Well, I am looking at picking up a new Jeep, and the Wrangler 4 door is a forerunner in my mind.

I am looking at the sport model with a few upgrades as I will use it for some off road, so I like the idea of the plastic fenders versus the metal ones on the Sahara, and I won't be hardcore off roading it so I don't need the rubicon.

So what are your opinions on this jeep? Any problems these vehicles are prone to? things to watch out for? ect...

Frankly, I'd not bother with the 2011, the 3.8L is gutless. Wait for the 2012's with the much, much better 3.6L.

This.....or if you want a good deal, wait until the 2012's are out and pick up a new 2011 cheap....

We rented a 2011 in Maui and it was alot of fun......but another 90+Hp will do the Jeep wonders.......

yeah that old 3.8 is a terrible engine and sucks back fuel, with the gearing in the rubicon it was terrible on the highway. not sure if the sport differs

Very compelling article to wait for the 2012 model with the new V6.

I am just wondering if a few after market mods on the old 3.8L might make it more viable and just get the 2011 when the 2012 models come out.

I really doubt there's much you could do to the 3.8 minivan engine that's going to net you 83 extra horsepower and better fuel economy. The Pentastar is just so much better than the 3.8 boat anchor, especially if you're getting a 4-door. It's worth the wait, and I believe it'll be worth the extra $ over the soon-to-be-heavily-discounted 2011's.

yeah with my research on this pretty much everyone is saying these things are under powered with the 3.8l. I think I am going to take one of these out for a spin and see if that is the case. Anyone know when the 2012s are going to hit dealerships?

i have seen dyno sheets from RCTS that show ~20hp more to the wheels from a throttle body upgrade, under warranty too

does anyone know when the 2012s are coming out? I stopped at the dodge dealership just off Bow trail, guy had no idea when he could start ordering them, or on pricing, but was willing to offer me $500 over invoice on the Jeep of my choice...

It's not a big enough change for me to go to the 2012, plus the new car like interior is way to nice to cover in mud.

I'm going to pay off mine and get a 4BT into it.

I just picked up a 2011 40th Anniversary Edition with the 3.8 boat anchor. I slapped intake and an exhaust on it and it is plenty of motor for a brick shaped jeep. Pretty tough to turn down 3250 off on the '11 right now.

The Wrangler is not fast

The Wrangler is not fuel efficent

The Wrangler will take you anywhere, in any weather and are stupid cheap right now.

jk-forums.com is your best place to search for common issues and mods etc.

Buy a 2011 next year and spend the saved money on a Hemi swap. Twice the power with the same fuel economy.

Go see Rob at Courtesy. 2012 should be on the lot, people have been test driving and taking delivery for weeks.

HEMI swap in Canada is going to run you about $20k, most likely more.

Check out jeepforum.com, lots of 2011 and now 2012 owners there.

I will go check it out.

Yeah, I figgured a Hemi swap would be crazy expensive, it would mean i would be getting a $35k jeep for $15k to make it worth while...
