I thought this was hilarious till I found out it happened 3 blocks from where I live..

It doesn't surprise me anymore. And yes he was asian. I'm like the only white person in Richmond.

haha... the picture made the rounds through our store this morning... but this isn't uncommon request... people trying to fit huge appliances into their small vehicles because they are too cheap to pay delivery.

Hell, I had a guy out in Port Alberni want to come and pick up a built-in 48" Sub-Zero and load it into a trailer and take it home... a trailer with no sides... lol...

Yeah, an 800lb top-heavy fridge without proper strapping, etc... sounds like a great idea! First corner... BOOM... total loss.

Hahaha, awesome. Should have thrown some wheels on it and towed it.

That's fantastic! But in the Pacific Rim, they would've let you haul that on a Vespa. ;)

First corner.... or first stop.

I don't think the trunk lid is going to keep it from flying forward.

Too bad he was reported, the damage to his car after a few blocks would have been priceless. and/or leaving a new fridge in the middle of the road somewhere.

Still trying to determine the thought process on this one... I mean, it would be one thing if that were a $50 fridge from Craigslist, but it's a brand new Frigidaire all-fridge ... probably from Trail in Richmond ... boom, $800 gone, just like that.

saddest part is... currently there is over 100,000 people in richmond. And according to the city, only enough housing for 45,000 people.

That's why you have all these infill multimillion dollar homes going up. Followed by about 12 asian families living in each one, just for a status symbol.

Also, speaking of status symbols. Don't even get me started on the number of cars repossessed here that are HIGH END cars. There's a reason Adesa here has 3 auto auctions per day that go on for hours. Having worked at Adesa, they bring in about 750 cars a day. Most of which are repo'd.

Richmond has (believe it or not) a sizeable East Indian population around #5 road and WM highway.
