Does anyone know if there is a big range in price between different pharmacies? I'm curious if I should bother shopping around at all?

Drug prices will be the same everywhere. Its the dispensing fees that differ, and yes, they can vary largely.

Places like Walmart will be cheaper whereas Safeway will be more expensive. Costco's pharmacy is cheap and you dont need a membership to use their pharmacy.

Edit:
A quick search online yields these numbers from 2010 done by an insurance company:

Pharmacy/Average Dispensing Fee Per Prescription

Costco$4.48
London Drugs$9.44
Walmart$9.73
Loblaws (Superstore, Extra Foods)$9.89
Save-On-Foods$10.30
Zellers$10.76
Sobeys$10.88
Rexall$11.27
Canada Safeway$11.28
Shoppers Drug Mart$11.56
PharmaPlus/ Medicine Shoppe$11.64

Do you just tell the people at the door you’re just using the pharmacy?

When I had a membership there a few years ago I hated waiting to get into the store with all the retards who forget they have to show their card and spend 15 mins looking for it (holding up the line). :whipped:

I walked passed one of those idiots one time and one of the ladies fallowed me half way around the store to check if I had a card.

How are the dispensing fees charged? Is it each time you go in to get a prescription?

Ie: I have 12 months of medication, and I pick it up every month I get charged 12 dispensing fees vs. 12 months of medication that I pick up once a year = 1 dispensing fee?
