So I won a BBQ at a company function yesterday, spent a few hrs this afternoon assembling her.

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc475/rage2amg/9485e17d.jpg

50,000 BTU's, 5 burners, 1 side burner, 1 rear burner, 805 sq. in. of cooking space.

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc475/rage2amg/3e57538c.jpg

Decided to break her in by BBQ'ing some steaks. First, the seasoning. Marinated with olive oil, a light coat of freshly ground salt, Hy's seasoning salt (the one with the MSG  ), and some fresh ground pepper.

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc475/rage2amg/683ba8bf.jpg

Organic top sirloin. Oddly enough, there was zero marbling on the inside. Anyone know where I can get steaks with good chunks of marbled fat?

On the BBQ!

And done!

Steak, mushrooms, Wyborowa Exquisite + Seven. Perfect dinner!

Costco has really nice steaks. I picked up a pack of bone in rib eye steaks today, I'm going to marinate it with this (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/marinade-for-steak-i/detail.aspx). I tried it last week on a cheaper cut and it was delicious!

You gotta work on your grill marks! lol

My grill marks are usually pretty good. It's my first time with this BBQ, so yea, it's not perfect haha.

They cut it in front of you, to what thickness you want and from either end. they have great prime rib as well.

Twinning? :poosie:

I would never mix such good vodka with a soft drink though. On the rocks, water(Fiji if want to be a boss), and a wedge of lime.

Another good steak spice can be bought from Master Meats on edmonton trail. They mix up their own montreal steak spice from fresh spices. Its top shelf.

I personally stick to rib cuts. I normally buy a whole boneless rib from Costco and cut them to size. Hard to go wrong with the Costco rib steaks but I find the pre cuts to be a bit too big for me personally.

I tried marinating lamb with coffee overnight last weekend. It's surprisingly good, the lady likes it too :D. I usually only use some seasoning before I throw the steak on the grill. Next time I'll try the coffee marinate on steak.

I've tried marinating with everything over the years, I keep it simple to just simple spices now. I don't like overpowering the taste of a good cut of meat.

Nope. Yesterday deserved a drink after building a BBQ! I'm not white, so building a BBQ is a monumental feat for me!

I mix it up, with 7up the wyborowa kills the sweetness, and it tastes like carbonated water + lime juice. I do drink it with water, or on the rocks as well. Just depends on the mood.

I never marinate steaks. I just buy good ones (filet, rib, ny strip) and get the steak up to room temp before throwing it onto the grill. When the meat is at room temp it cooks more evenly and the fat is softer too.

I generally take my steak out of the fridge about 30 minutes before BBQing, cover it with Hy's seasoning salt and wait.

I know the general consensus around here for steaks is salt, pepper and nothing else, but everytime I go to my Dad's for a steak, he uses Montreal steak rub marinade and they turn out delicious!

I use montreal steak spice every single time.
I hate going out for steak unless it's a very high end steak house, cause I think they serve shit for $30/steak.

I have the same grill except mine has four knobs and not five. I love it! Just moved into my new condo and it was the first thing I bought (after my couches).

Great BBQ.

Steak + a spicy Caesar is always good in my books.

haha I do drink wine here and there with my steaks. But it was a day of sweat putting that together in 30C weather, a nice thirst quenching drink was the better option!

Not calling you out on your watches. Believe me I'd love to own them. I just love how the well off always seem to get shit for free. Just like the celebs who could by anything and everything and still get all kinds of stuff for free. Save some for us middle class folk lol

Speaking of good steak. I went to "a better butcher" today. Rib eye and a 10.5lb brisket, 50 bucks, hands down best rib eye I have ever eaten. Salt and pepper and a little dill and butter. Fuckin glorious
