Buying a truck in New Brunswick .. Taxes? GST? PST>

I was wondering if we go out to New Brunswick and buy a used car from a dealership in New Brunswick what fees will we be paying?

The guy on the phone first say a 55,XXX truck would be 66,XXX out the door, but he was also including the PST which I think we will not have to pay.


If we import the car into Alberta I know we will need an OOP inspection however will we have to pay GST? Do you have to pay the PST for Manitoba?

Is it brand new? I hope so, otherwise I wouldn't be buying anything from the coast. I grew up in NB and the roads are shit, not to mention the copious amount of salt they throw on the roads and all the moisture in the air.

Specified motor vehicles
You can get a rebate of the provincial part of the HST you paid on specified motor vehicles, which includes most cars, tractors, and
motorcycles, if all of the following conditions are met:

you are a resident of Canada;

you bought the vehicle in a participating province and paid HST on it;

you bought the vehicle for consumption, use, or supply exclusively (generally 90% or more) outside the participating province;

you removed the vehicle from the participating province to another province or other area of Canada no later than 30 days after it was
delivered to you (any amount of time that the vehicle was in storage is not counted as part of the 30 days); and

if you removed the vehicle to a non-participating province or other area of Canada, you paid the applicable provincial sales tax of the
non-participating province or other area of Canada and any other applicable taxes.

I don't know. Can't you find the same if not better of a deal elsewhere?

I personally wouldn't buy a car from the east coast unless it was brand new... and even then, is it worth going that far for it?
