Well I know there are some sneaker collectors on here. Tomorrow they are supposed to be announcing the Nike Air's from Back to the Future with their self tying laces. Sounds pretty neat and there is a youtube teaser video as well.

How would one get a hold of a pair of these even though I imagine the cost will be quite high if they actually have the motorized laces :dunno:

Haha. Well, I heard it on the internet and if it's on the internet it's gotta be true, right?

Definitely.
It could probably be close though with the motors and such in the shoe. I have enough shoes though if this is going to be in such high demand with a price to match

You won't get these.

There won't be a release in Calgary, and all of the kicks stores in the states will have limited release and long lines.

When there's a will, there's a way. When there's beyond, there are many ways.

If they have a limited release, they would probably be worth quite a bit in 10 years or so. If they were not worn and kept in mint condition.

But $1000 for shoes , f that noise.

I was in the states when they released the Delorean 6.0s and I couldn't get my grubby paws on em anywhere.

Official.

1500 pairs. Auction on Ebay. All goes to Michael J Fox foundation.

The last Hyperdunk based on the same color scheme limited to 500 pairs went up to $2000 a pair in auctions.

EDIT:

Nike Press Release:

The NIKE MAG is no longer the “greatest shoe never made.” The mythical shoe that originally captured the imagination of audiences in Back to the Future II is being released – and they’re here to help create a future without Parkinson’s disease.

1500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the ten-day auction, one hundred and fifty pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be made available via eBay’s Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18. Thanks to a previous 50 million dollar match given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, all donations will be matched, effectively doubling the contributions from the auction.

The original NIKE MAG was worn by the Back to the Future character Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, in the year 2015. It came alive, lit up and formed to Marty’s foot. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoe was designed to be a precise replica of the original from Back to the Future II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The 2011 NIKE MAG illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

The 2011 NIKE MAG – It’s About Time.

No self lacing system? That was the best part of the shoe! If it just lights up, that's kinda lame...

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/09/08/ap/business/main20103535.shtml

Hatfield said the Nike Mag has been difficult to develop and the electrical systems, which illuminate the shoe for up to five hours, have been one of the most challenging things the company has ever done in footwear. But the timing seemed perfect to bring the shoe back to support a bigger idea.

Really? I see kids shoes everywhere with glowing and blinking lights when they walk. Was it really that difficult?

JordanEG6

$1000 for a limited pair like the Mag sounds about right for RETAIL. I've seen less hyped up sneakers go for more.

The Air Mag "inspired" Nike Hyperdunks were at aftermarket resale value of around $1200. Expect these to hit eBay AGAIN for resale for way more than a $1000.

Doesn't mean $1000 is a steal of a deal, but a G for a pair of Mags isn't so bad.

:D

I'll bid on them tonight, but I doubt the auction will end at less than $1000.

GenerationX

I bet the prices are going to run high. It's a charity event and celebrities will be bidding too probably. Over a G for sure.

wat, auctions are only open to americans to begin with :banghead:

The 2011 NIKE MAG shoes are movie prop replicas inspired by the Nike shoes appearing in the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoes are not designed or intended for normal wear and use as footwear.
There go my hopes and dreams anyways if I could get them for cheap.

LA Gear comes to mind.

In this case, it'd seem like if Nike had a time machine, it'd be traveling through time to scrape this project.

Most of the auctions are hovering in the $3k range. I'll bet that by the 5th or 6th day you can score a pair in the $1000 range.

The only way I'd spend $1000 on them is if it came self lacing cause that's what was cool about it. Not that I'd use them, cause where we're going we don't need roads.

Such a fail on Nike's part. A company that started with shoes and grew into the powerhouse it is today can't handle a self lacing system:facepalm: All their funding and yet they cant do it. wth happened to "Just do it" ?

Good that it's for a good cause. Sad to see Michael J Fox like this now, at least his spirit is not letting down to the disease.

He went to my high school and I met him when he visited the school when I went there and he was such a nice guy. Every time I see him on TV feel so sad seeing such a an amazing guy suffering from Parkinson's disease.

Whoosh.

The mechanic involved means we probably never see power laces. I think the video is just making fun/excuses why the mag doesn't have them.
