Dont know much about flat screens these days. My budget is no more than $1,000. Dont overly care if it is "3D".

Is there a significant difference between 120 and 240 Hz?

A lot of people don't even notice the difference between the two. You'd have to see them both side by side to really notice.

I bought this one a while ago but the 46" model

I got 4 year warranty and wall mount for just about 1000. So far really happy. Using it as a monitor and TV.

240 does make a big difference, my friend has one but then I don't really liked how the movies looked on it.

Don't get dejudder mixed up with frequency. Dejudder is what makes everything look like a home movie.

"Natural motion", every brand has a different name. Turn it off, it looks like crap. Otherwise you will likely not see a difference in picture quality between 120 and 240.

Is 42" a size restriction you have to work with?

Refresh rates make a Big difference!

I went from a 42" Plasma to a 42" LCD 240Hz and the difference in HD sports is night and day.

The stills of the LCD are excellent in 1080P, but the motion of the plasma was crisp, clean and not choppy.

If budget allows get a LCD with high Refresh Hz rate.

Any brands I should stay away from? LG?Sony? Panasonic?

I love my Panasonic. The inlaw have an LG that had some issues but then magically corrected itself.. So not really sure how that brand is.

I got an LG 1080P 42". It's ok for a Mid-end unit.

240Hz. Wouldn't go any lower than that if you like HD sports or Continuously filmed movies like a lot of the new action ones are now a days.

LG seems to be king in the mid range. Samsung in the top end range.

I have a 37 LG 1080 and its been flawless. My father in law went with a newer LG 47 after staring at them in the store for 30 minutes haha.

As low as $599 back in May. Reviewed pretty good.

This 40" is $499 right now if 40" is enough.

dont really know much about tv's; but we got a samsung 60ish inch led tv a while ago and while it was the most expensive, i honestly dont see a huge difference between it and a tv for half the price.

LED over LCD is contrast and power consumption.

You, and everybody else. Once it's in your home, and you have nothing to compare it to, it will look awesome. Unless it's in a critical viewing environment (i.e. dedicated theater), *most* people wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between TV A and B if they weren't side by side and calibrated.

Thx for the info, decided to go with a samsung LED edge lit. 6000 series I think it is. Makes my games soooooooo much better off the 360. Guess I have to replay them all cause they look freakin amazing! Plus its nice as it puts off hardly any heat and doesnt cook me in my little apartment after an hour of running it.

Good post. This is pretty true and not a lot of people consider it.
