It's most like an older Porsche Boxster variant, but the rear lights look different. Any idea?

yes it is! 2001+, they never sold them in Canada. I think it was about 2 years ago that they were approved for Canadian roads by riv when they changed the bumper laws.

I brought an 01 up from the states, it was so much fun to drive! and they are dirt cheap in the states.

Anyone remember before these were legal for import, War on here spent something like 100k to build his own and registered it as a kit car? That was dedication!

But they also dropped 700 lbs of weight.

I agree they're underpowered though. Stick a 2ZZGE or K20 in one and see how well it goes. ;)

Yeah, I have only read about the MR-2 from back then, so when I did see it in Downtown, Calgary, I was wondering why it resembled a Porsche so much, yet the back lights looked outdated in the style category. Hmm, its a nice looking car. Really wonderful.

These are really cheap in the States now. Under 10k gets you one with fairly low mileage. Personally, I can think of a bunch of cars I'd rather have for the price - but still a neat car.
