Hey everyone,
I am just posting to get some opinions on concrete blocks/slabs for parking my motorcycle on. I have looked around and I am not sure of how to proceed in getting these concrete blocks (slabs?) I have a fairly narrow stretch of lawn on one side of my house that I would like to half cover up with concrete so that I can park my bike on it. My parents have agreed to the project and so now I need to figure out how to go forth with it as I have never undertaken home improvement projects before. I would prefer to do this as cost effectively as possible and to have it look decent :D Thanks in advance for your help and opinions.

Burnco sells a variety of sidewalk blocks, which I think will be perfect for your application. They well 12x12, 18x18 and 24x24 sizes.

Can you go slightly more permanent and just pour a small concrete pad instead? We did this for my girlfriends motorcycle; really straightforward process and looks better/holds up better than individual blocks.

You have to make sure the ground underneath is flat, level & well compacted... you don't want the blocks to start sinking due to rain/etc.
As suggested, you might just want to opt for a concrete pad instead, less hassle. The problem with sidewalk blocks is that even with the best prep work possible, they will eventually start to sink/heave over time... plus weeds like to grow in between.
You can get the blocks anywhere though... Burnco, Home Depot, etc.

Thanks for all the advice, I've been looking through all the options provided. Also, jwslam, thanks for the DIY vid =] This is somewhat a stupid question but how much should I expect to pay to have concrete poured over top as I know my parents would not mind getting rid of that side part of the lawn entirely as it is completely a waste of space and time consuming to mow anyways haha.

I am also wondering about something very similar. Our driveway is really narrow and we always have to walk on our lawn a bit to get in and out of vehicles in the driveway. I've seen a few places where they have dyed/stained textured or stamped concrete to look like paving stones done for ~2-3 feet on each side of the driveway (~18 feet long) and I think that is how I would like to go.
What would you expect to pay to have somebody do the complete job, and how much do you think I could save if I dug out and prepped the area myself?

Call a concrete contractor. I have dealt with Crush concrete in the past, and he was good to deal with and pretty cheap.

Cool, does anybody know what this style of concrete is called so I don't sound like a complete idiot calling around (Or worse yet, get a price on something which is not what I wanted...)?

Stamped concrete is the proper term

Zero102, depending on what the area around your driveway looks like, simple brushed concrete might look just as nice. At least that would match your current diveway. I'm not a big fan of stamped and dyed concrete beside a big peice of brushed.
Nearly any concrete contractor would be able to offer you advice on this.
