Hey guys, I have the oppourtunity to own a C6 Corvette, looking at a 2005 LS2,6 speed manual. Thought about a ZO6 but they are quite expensive and will be harder to maintain. Most of them in Canada are american cars.

What's the difference between Z51 package, LS1, LS2, LT3 etc.
Gas mileage is pretty decent for a 6.0, any major things to look out for?

No the car will not be driven in winters, any recalls etc. Thanks guys

Do get one with the Z51 package. I am possibly looking for one myself at the moment too.

Try to find one with the dual roof package (painted & glass), there was a recall on the glass roofs and unless it was taken care of your gonna be frustrated.

Z51 has the cross drilled rotors and suspension upgrades, research online relating to this.

LS2 is the engine on the C6, Z06 models obviously have a diff engine. LT3 is the top trim level.

Cashmere leather interior is a bitch, look for black. Gas mileage is fine.

The recall was for the non-glass roofs. Some of them separated during driving. The recall is free and is pretty much a non-issue. They order and paint one for you and you bring your car in when it's done.

C6 Z51 is pretty close to a C5 Z06 in terms of performance numbers. Weight is pretty much the same, as is power rating. I prefer the updated look of the C6 over the C5. The factory HID in the C6 is a huge plus.

The 2006+ came with a sportier 3 spoke wheel. The 2005 came with a 4 spoke steering wheel that looks like it came out of a Cobalt.

Number of improvements of 06 model yr and later, would skip on the 05. Pretty sure there was a recall on both roofs, the glass roof is annoying as fuck with the cracking sounds, op can google that. Agreed with rc, wouldnt even consider a c5.

Having owned and loved a 2002 Z06, and now owning a 2008 Z06, I would much much prefer a C5Z over a 2005-2007 C6 LS2 corvette. The C5Z is as fast if not faster, better priced, and has a more raw feel for the driver. Plus I don't like the looks of the C6's except the Z.

The LS3 in the 2008+ corvettes has more power and seems to be bullet proof. I'd personally take a C6 Corvette (non Z) over a C5Z only if it's a 2008+ with the LS3.

Huge aftermarket potential for all of them.
