A 10-year old boy was taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital after he was struck by an SUV just before 4 p.m., on Tuesday.

The accident occurred in the 5000 block of Panamount Hill N.W. The 10-year old boy ran onto the street from the east side sidewalk; witnesses say the boy did not look to see if any cars were coming. The 17-year old driver of the SUV was unable to stop his car in time to avoid hitting the young boy.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life threatening head and chest injuries.

Neither speed, alcohol nor distracted driving are considered to be factors in this tragic accident. The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is continuing to investigate this incident.
