Hey Guys,

As per my previous thread, I'm on the hunt for something new. I'm looking at possible positions in the apple store, doing either the Genius Bar or their "Creative" position, which is basically leading workshops showing people how to use the products.

Before this turns in an Apple product bashing thread, I'm looking to see if anyone has any experience dealing with people at the apple store, either in the Genius section or the workshops and seminars? I've had good experiences any time I've gone to the Genius bar but I've never taken a seminar to see how those are run. I'm going to go up to the Apple store tomorrow to talk to people that work there for any insight as well. I'm leaning towards the "Creative" position because it's more teaching orientated and I loved teaching when I was teaching guitar and such, but the Genius bar would be a simple switch from what i'm doing now, doing tech support. Any thoughts on that?

Forgot to mention that I do have experience with Apple products and programs, so I wouldn't be learning that completely from scratch.

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure you would be taking a nice paycut if you go work there.

I don't know how "creative" you think it is...all you do is stand there and show people how to use an extremely simple product? :dunno:

I have no experience working there but my guess is that the tutorials you would be giving would most likely be very basic and not involve a lot of thought or "creativeness" on the way. Just something to consider

I realize that it's not creative as in actually creating stuff, that's just the job title haha. And sadly I wouldn't be taking that big of a cut, that's the sad part. Looking online the rate of pay is just slightly under what i'm getting now. For the specialist positions and people that just wander around the store yeah, they don't get paid nearly as much, but for those specific positions I've been looking at they seem to still pay at a reasonable rate.

Thing is, anything that really would be upping my rate of pay needs experience, and I don't have it, so I guess I'm just trying to gain more experience in anything, since I don't know what direction I really want to take myself yet.

I don't know about the workshops, I have been nothing but impressed with the genius bar guys though. When my motherboard was on the fritz the guy asked if I was capable of replacing it myself rather then relying on their over priced labour.
