Lingerie Football Coming to Calgary

LAS VEGAS — The Lingerie Football League is adding five more Canadian teams in time for the 2012 season, including Calgary.

Joining Toronto in the inaugural season of LFLCanada will be Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Quebec City and Montreal.

The Canadian teams will have a 12-week season, culminating in the first Canadian Lingerie Bowl on the eve of the 2012 Grey Cup, Nov. 24, 2012, in Toronto.

“As much success as the league has seen through its first two seasons in the U.S., we expect greater success in Canada due to its fanaticism around sports,” LFLfounder and chairman Mitchell S. Mortaza said.

The now 12-team LFL plans further expansion into Australia in 2013 and into Europe in 2014.

The LFL, founded in 2009, is an offshoot of the Lingerie Bowl, which was featured on Super Bowl halftime shows. It signed a national TVdeal with MTV Networks in 2010.

There was a different article on page 3 of today's herald. Very belittling of the owners of the business. "women are being taken advantage of" kind of thing. Even though these women don't get paid.
