I am thinking about buying another car, I am looking at either the Lexus SC 400, and the Lexus GS 400. Out of these 2 cars which is the better ones i like that more hp that the GS model has compared to the SC models but i like the body style of both cars.

Thank you:

Mark

Well... Do you want a 2 door or a 4 door? That's what it comes down to, if you like the look of both of them.

Either way there both V8, extra back and trunk space would be dope but the SC is just so sexy.

Get the SC.

Same story with any Toyota. If they're maintained they will last forever.

Friend had a SC400 that had over 320,000 miles. The GS is a nice looking vehicle. More space in the back is a plus.

Just watch out for worn trannys on ones with higher mileage. Kinda wish I had kept mine, accidentally broke the MAF on it and the door mechanism broke. Didn't want to deal with fixing them, so I got rid of it...

I personally like the gs more, I looked at both those cars, on average the sc400 will be half the price of a gs400 though

If you are planning on going for performance I would go with a sc/gs 300 (sc300s are a little harder to find as I don't believe they sold them in Canada? Or at least sold very few). It is much easier to swap a 2jz-gte in a 300 if you want to down the road but the trade off will be you'll have less hp to start. From cruising through Lexus forums there doesn't seem to be much serious tuning/AM support for the v8s. You could throw on a supercharger but they still aren't that quick in the end and to build the v8 I think it's going to be much more expensive.

ya i would go the sc route, but also depends on what you want, 4 door or 2? the sc400 is a well built car and very strong motor, just look out for power steering pump leakes because it will leak out onto the alternator and kill it. besides that very few problems and hands down sexy car, speaking from experience. but if you want speed and to modify the car the sc300 is the way to go!

j-hop is right they didnt make any sc300s for canada but there is a shit ton in the states lots have 1jz/2jz swaps in them already or just go bone stock. the 2jz-ge motor in the sc300s can handle a single turbo setup fine also

Lots of good info on here already. I think the GS is a "Better car", faster, many more options, a car that was designed for the 2000's, whereas the SC was designed for the 1990's.

But the SC is more of a statement* car - I love the driving position, the interior is beautiful and very driver focused. Surprisingly 4 people fit in the car decently, just came back on two road trips with a full car and they all said the back seats were very comfortable due to the intense recline.

Now, your going to be looking for a 98+ SC if your comparing apples to apples, and your going to have to import one from the states, or find one of the few in Canada that have already been brought up (I think I have the only one in Calgary). I don't know if I would bother with a older SC unless you got it for a song.

Thats a nice one, and the price is actually somewhat reasonable. Late model SC's (98/99) hold their value really well in the States. I love mine.

The GS is also a great car, I am considering buying one as a "winter" car.

DONT get Tein.

Get some half decent coilovers. Stance, HSD, Zeal, I have had those running on 2GS's for 3-4 years now through our Calgary winters.

My GS is on Zeal Function T's, my gf's on BC BR's. After a few months of driving the BC's they've become a tad too soft for my liking. I'm probably going to sell them and put some HSD's on my gf's car.

I almost bought a SC400 a while ago, it just had too many miles on it for me to wilfully spend $4000 on it. 295,xxx or something. I'd talked them down a little bit, but that's just such a crapshoot. I'd pay that for one with 150-180 on it though

Haha. Black supe is an Authentic Ridox wide body, HKS T04Z, built auto, and the red is a GT42 6spd.

I'll take some pics of them when I have a second.

The GS is a way better car than the SC in my opinion.
