View Full Version : Who has their own office?

How many of you work in offices where everyone has their own office instead of cubicles? Maybe I'm a little ADD but people walking by all day and hearing the door slam is such a distraction. Plus it's kinda annoying when someone just sneaks right up to u while you're on beyond. :bullshit:

My own office with 2 couches and a coffee table. I spend most the day sitting on the couches. People still sneak up on me.

My desk faces the door...no sneaking up unless they are a certified ninja or something heh.

Unlike some of the Beyond ballers I have no couches.

I feel shame.

Own office, and I face the door so nobody can sneak up on me.

I actually miss working on a trading floor -- sure it's noisy as hell, but I did feel energized by all the activity + you can't slack off when you have no privacy (forces you to be productive).

When I moved into my new office I figured it would be great. At the end of the hall (no traffic), best view of the pond, and the neat thing was the zone HVAC control area ended at my office, so I effectively had my own personal climate controls, or so I thought...

It was a sweet deal until I began having allergy symptoms in the spring, had the AC tech check out the filters and everything was good. Then in the winter it was getting cooler than usual in my office, bought a space heater and still spent all winter coming up with excuses to be out of my office.

Finally 1.5 years later the HVAC guy figured it out. Apparently the heating unit was set to intake 25% fresh air even in the middle of winter. Such are the hassles of a new building.

i'm in my own office, even has a window that opens (some folks in the building don't have windows) :bigpimp:

I have a corner office with tons of windows. Older building, so it's a fucking death trap. Way too cold in the winters, and way too hot in the summers. It shares HVAC settings with the boardroom so when it's packed, even in winter, I have A/C blowing in my office while it's trying to cool down the boardroom and 10 people.

Do you guys hate it when people don't push your chairs in when they get up to leave? And then once they leave, you reluctantly get up, walk around to push in the chairs. :banghead:

I don't even have a damn chair or desk. I just sit on the floor with a pen and a pad

my boss had chairs in his office that didn't have any felt or anything on the bottom, with a carpet floor. And they were heavy chairs! it was literally impossible to move them in and out. I just left them out :D

I never minded working in an open area. when I was on site I had another purchaser 2ft behind me and my boss like 5 feet beside. they had meetings all the time in this little cubicle. like 6 people all in one cubicle!!

I have a corner window cube. Nice thing is I get a nice view of all the vehicles on Blackfoot Trail. Bad is that I face my bullpen so everyone can see when I am not working.

Our offices are for directors and above only.

I find it funny when a supervisor or manager is writting up someone in a cubicle or if I am closing out a tender and you can hear the other consultants sitting a few cubes over. Oh well not my problem. We dont have a ton of meeting rooms either.

I have an office but no door surrounded by glass walls. With the way the sides of the glass is set up (we dry erase shit on the walls), I have the only desk that faces the hallway in which people can see what i'm doing on my computer. Apparently my reputation precedes me.

We don't have any cubes on our floor. Students get the inside offices without windows though.

I spent 2 yrs in a cube out of school, hope to never have to do that again. :barf:

Corner/window cubicle.

Entire office is 'open concept' only 8 or 9 closed offices for upper management and HR stuff. Would hate to be out in the open like most people in our office are, so loud and distracting with people moving around.

No pics from anyone??

My office is open concept, but really all that means, is they took the doors off the offices.

I have a corner office, with a big window - although I stare out at another warehouose all day.

Not a high level position, but I started at the same company in a cube, got moved into here when we renovated our building.

Cube. But I'm just out of school so I'm happy to have a good paying job. Its a good size cube though and I can decorate how I want.

I'd post pics but I'm too lazy to find a site to host it...just in the Scotia Centre, facing north up 2nd street SW. I get a clear view of the ambulances parked outside the BP Centre whenever a trader has a heart attack/medical emergency.

Better view than at my old job...it was on the wrong side of the tracks, near the mustard seed. I'd see the alcoholics gather around the liquor store there from 9:30am to 10am each day to get their fix as soon as the liquor store could legally open its doors...

Cubes. Desk facing out towards everyone else. Middle of the floor too, so anyone walking by can see.

No windows nearby (Lack of natural sunlight kinda blows)

Temperature - No complaints.

I really could care less about my office arrangement to be honest. I have an inside office currently, no windows. I would trade it for a cube near corner windows. I prefer natural light and a view over privacy. I used to share with a summer student, and it was a lot of fun actually.

I've had my own office in one form or another for the past 14 years or so but it's funny, when I opened my own business I placed myself in the smallest office I've had over all the years. Now that it's on my dime I can't justify spending money on myself. Strange.

Have an office, basically the desk wraps around one corner of my office with two chairs on the outside.

The other side has meeting tables for ~5 people.

One of my staff has the "corner office" I was too lazy to switch into.

Cube:( . But it is a fairly open floor plan with massive windows everywhere and despite how open it is, people can't see what I am looking at/working on. In the winter, my bed is my office 80% of the time, love the ability to work from home lol.
