I'm looking for a car that's around $10,000 plus or minus a thousand or so.
Unfortunately, I know shit all about cars and I'm sure all of you here know much more than I do. Can any of you give me any tips and suggestions?
I'm not that picky with what kind of car, just something reliable with cheap maintenance costs/parts. Thanks in advance everyone.

Any of these would be cheap to run and fit the budget

Seriously though, just look up reliability reports, find something you like, and get it fully inspected before you buy.
Stay away from used car dealerships.

Well, I'm looking for an AWD car.. Was thinking of getting a Subaru impreza.. But really just any car that can survive a Calgary winter. I know dealerships are pretty much always a bad deal but I know nothing about cars.
Edit: the impreza I found at a dealership was in an accident.. Looked minor but the fact that the dealer didn't tell me really put me off

Just buy a low-ish KM Civic and some winter tires. Dirt cheap to run and as reliable as it gets.

Mazda is the best bang for your buck. You can get a really nice Mazda3 or Mazda6 for that price depending on what size of car you'd like.
