I wasn't aware that they had a ZL1 variant but damn, its really fast. I just wish the engine sounded a bit more menacing but overall, really superb performance.

That sure sounds slow, the vette zr1 got it done in 7:19 and the latest Viper ACR (2010) set a lap of 7:12.13

This camaro is supposed to have nearly 600 horse.

Well, those are supercars. The Camaro is a pony car and considering that, this time is really fast.

too bad the car still has the cheap buttons on the steering wheel like every other gm

Respect! How does this car look compared to the stock SS any large differences?

Still waiting to see one at our dealership, wondering what they will be pricing them at.

The carbon fiber vents in the front make it look that much more aggressive. However, I just wish GM made the interior a bit more luxurious and increased the visibility.

You can already hear the interior rattling

Good time for a heavy ass pony car that's for sure.

Wow, wouldn't expect that kind of time from a Camaro, I agree with the OP, wish the engine sounded a bit more menacing.

You could put 580hp in a school bus and get a similar laptime... and similar steering. The Camaro isn't a bad handler but it's not a great handler. It has the power to make up for that in the straights so it works out. I found it interesting that it didn't outright lose in handling tests against the Mustang GT, it was at least close despite the weight disadvantage. I wouldn't buy one when you can get a used C6 Z06 that would run circles around the ZL1 at an autocross for less.

I don't think I have every seen a lap of the ring with so much sawing at the steering wheel.

looks like it could have been a bit quicker with a different driver.

I just heard that the new SRT8 grand cherokee had a time of 8:48. Only 7 sec slower then this beast of a camaro.

That'd be 1 minute and 7 seconds slower. ;)
