What's a short throw kit?

I know I am new but was wondering as someone mentioned how the 2011 Mustang GT would have been great with a short throw kit.

It makes the physical distance needed to move the shifter from gear to gear less. Less time having to move the shifter means more time the vehicle is engaged in a gear, and therefore a quicker car.

Now, with this said, how quick someone is with the clutch and launch abilities also make a huge difference. And if you're asking what a short throw shifter is, chances are you are going to lose much time in that regard anyway. As such, I doubt switching up the shifter will help you that much to be honest.

I installed a short throw shifter on my car. On my car it was a 30-45 minute job I did by myself. Although technically it speeds up your shifts, for me not being a racer by any means, it does give your car a sportier feel. I felt like the stock throws were a mile apart, but with the STS the shifts felt tighter and more accurate.
