I was watching the food network and saw some unreal looking grilled cheese sandwiches. Where's the best grilled cheese in this city?

Why don't you make it yourself? Pretty hard to mess up grilled cheese sandwhich. Just use real cheese and not the processed kraft singles, and it's pretty easy to make some amazing grilled cheese sandwhiches...

We do the FN version that had the grilled cheese made with sourdough with garlic butter and Parmesan on the outside and 4 or 5 cheeses on the inside...they are super good and when we do make them it's about $30.00 just for the cheese or more depending on the kinds you choose. It's sooo good though.

Agreed. In fact, I only keep Kraft singles just for grilled cheese sandwiches. The 32 pack of thick slices.

Kraft singles FTW. Sometimes I'll use lightly-garliced butter and a garlic/chipotle dip... mmmmm.

Kraft singles are OK, but I prefer using real cheese. Tastes way better in my opinion.

One of the best grilled cheeses I ever had was at the downtown French Maid (true story).

A grilled cheese sandwich with bacon/ham and jalapeno havarti is the best! Use sourdough bread

I love grilled cheese with Kraft Singles, but I also love Velvetta.

Yeah as far as I can tell grilled cheese is the only use for Kraft singles. I don't usually order a grilled cheese but last time I was at 5 guys I ordered two grilled cheese and they were a cheesy delight. I even put some sauteed onions and bacon in the sandwiches.. best grilled cheese I've ever had.

I make a grilled cheese pizzawich. Montreal smoked meat or pepperoni, tomato sauce, some jalepenos and goat mozzarella (cows milk makes me sick).

I think this thread convinced me on what to make for dinner. I have had way to much turkey lately.

What about pastrami sandwiches? I had one in NYC that was amazing, not dry like pastrami you buy at the deli here.

Really? Was it delicious? Kraft cheese singles, white bread, a shiat load of butter of each piece of bread, a non-stick pan, plus medium stove-top heat FTW.

Ahh but no one has mentioned the ketchup... I have found my perfect blend:

Heinz and about 3-4 drops of this shit:

I can find this stuff in Edmonton but can't seem to find it in Calgary. It's very hot without being overpowering. Also, I like plain grill cheese the best, just like the post above (buttered, on medium heat). None of this ham and whatever shit. Once you add meat, it's no longer a grilled cheese. It becomes a "[insert meat of choice] melt".

Bread, butter and processed cheese...the best. Maybe add some chicken noodle soup on the side. Perfect for a cold winters day.

Yeah I was just noticing that, no grilled cheese can go without its ketchup, I just use heinz, sometimes when I'm bored I put in some franks red hot.

maple bacon, add a bunch of coars pepper and douse it with franks right before it's done being cooked.

use some nice cheese like some gouda, feta or preference of cheese.

use some nice bread, i prefer something like ancient grain, 12 grain, etc.

you can see where this is heading.

Kraft Singles hands down. They even come in a "Grilled Cheese" style now (thicker and sharper flavour).

And hell yes to ketchup and franks.
