Tying up traffic this afternoon. That'll be a big insurance claim!

Is this an indicator on the lack of driver training in Alberta?

Well at least it was a little early in the day, hopefully rush hour traffic will be normal

Kind of scary the driver doesn't even know what would be considered basic knowledge about his load (max height)... makes you wonder where else they cut corners when driving and loading trailers.

The overpass in question is 4.3m, but its not indicated on the City of Calgary truck routes map. It mentions downtown is mostly 4.5m clearance and also highlights a few exceptions (ex. under center street bridge in chinatown) but this one isn't listed. I'm too lazy to see how many are less than 4.5m.

Truck driver better contact Duey Suem & Howe ASAP. :D

Some stickers and glue and it will be fine:D

It wasn't the load that caused this, it was the boom on the crane. The 0.2m would have been the difference between clearing it and hitting. When I worked for the company in question I loaded and unloaded that truck dozens of times, the operator isn't some idiot who doesn't know his rig.

Why bother stopping - just keep going and hope nobody reports you

Thats what it seems other drivers have done in the past.

Not all plus 15's are 15 feet anymore, some have been remodeled or recladded, and they simply went over top of the old exterior skin.
We did a really large lift downtown with a 250 ton crane 4 years ago. The crane was less than 4.5 meters, yet at 2 plus 15's, some parts of the crane had to be removed to make it under.

Actually from what I saw it wasn't the boom of the crane that hit, he had another unit (not sure what it was as I saw it right after and it was covered in debris) strapped to the bed that stuck out quite a bit higher than the boom and it was what hit, it was all bent up.

Friend of mine was having coffee just off the +15 and heard it hit.

Stupid city for not enforcing "15" in +15.

It's a pedestrian bridge, not a drift car.

Yea it would need zip ties to be classified drift. Right now it just has battle scars.

OP, all I can say is:

1. City needs to pick up the pieces
2. Buff the crap out of them ;)
3. .....
4. Profit???
