View Full Version : Looking for electronic parts (particularly audio)

I'm trying to build an attenuator for my guitar amp and I am looking for a 16 ohm mono L-PAD (sometimes it might be referred to as an RMS fader), ideally a 10 watt or a 15 watt though a 50 watt would probably suffice. If I'm understanding it correctly, they're typically used in DIY home audio.
Does anyone know where I might find one? I would prefer it to be local to avoid shipping costs, but online might be okay if I have no choice.
For the record, I've checked Active, MRO, Mouser, and Digikey as suggested by another thread and nothing.

B&E Electronics in the south? MRO and B&E are really good about finding/ordering too, even for single quantities.
Here's a list of L-pads that parts express sells: http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=196
Not sure if any of them fit for you.
Solen.ca and madisound also carry them but all seem to be 8 ohm

(electonics guys and engineers wet dream of a store)
i did a search for L-PAD and they do carry some, but it looks like they have to order them in and it takes about a week.

OP mentioned Active in his post.
You could also try Newark, like digi-key. More expensive shipping options...

Yeah, I checked Parts Express already. While they do have a couple 16 ohm L-PADs, shipping's also $30 which negates any reason to build my own attenuator. It only costs $20 in parts to build one if I can find the parts locally. Any more, and I may as well just buy one.
