well after a bit of searching, i found that the r-31 Passage GT 's have the RB20DET, a 2.0l DOHC inline-6 turbo with 180hp at 6400rpm. The base model was now using the CA 18, a 1.8l DO-HC 4-cylinder with 100hp. Nissan introduced the R31 Skyline GTS-R in 1987 with a RB20DET engine tuned to 210hp thanks to a different turbocharger and different exhaust manifolds.
The engine tuning was supported by an improved suspension and tuning on many other parts of the car, to give the GTS-R a more sportive character overall.

hope this helps....

It's legal to drive a right-hand steering wheel car in Canada???

Actually it is perfectly legal to have a right hand drive in canada. u don't even need a permit or anything that people think. Driving felt pretty wierd, but I'd get use to it, I have to say that the RB20DET is a very nice engine, even at stock boost! I love the feel of a factory turbo rear wheel drive car!

I thought Skylines are illegal in Canada, some shit about passing safety requirements or something. I wonder if we'll get an Evo when the Mitsu dealers open up....

All rules pertaining to importing cars are thrown out the window after the car becomes 15 years old. You can import any vehicle that's older than 15 years.

What is the reasoning behind the 15 year rule??

rage2

Not sure, they probably think cars over 15 years are either undesirable, or collector's items.

Funny thing is, in 15 years, you'll want the current Skyline and not an R34.

It looks like the numbers you've quoted for the RB20DET engine are from JB Cars web site (http://www.history.jbskyline.net/index3.php#7thgen ). They are almost correct... the numbers are correct, but the wrong scale was used.

It should have been 180PS@6400rpm, which is the Japanese horsepower measurement. This does not equate to the U.S. horsepower. The actual spec is 160kW@6400rpm, which equates to 214hp@6400rpm (multiply by 1.34 to convert kiloWatts to horsepower). This engine was released in the 1986 R31 Skyline GTS-X.

The infamous GTS-R model, of which only 200 were built, has 210PS@6400rpm, which roughly converts to about 250hp@6400rpm.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions about the R31 Skyline. And as you can see by the conversions I've provided, there's a lot more to this engine than you may have originally thought. For a 1986 vehicle, it's got a lot of horses galloping out of a 2.0 litre engine.

Not *ALL* rules, the car still has to be roadworthy :)

I've always been a Nissan enthusiast, the GT-R should be coming to North America in a few years under the Nissan badge...just rumors, but i personally like the R33, the R34 are nice but the R33 just have a better curve to it

Actually, Skylines go WAAAAYYYYYY back... back to 1957 when it was known as the Prince Skyline ALSI-1...

http://www.history.jbskyline.net/Prince%20ALSI%201%20series.gif

The hand built 1961 Prince Skyline BLRA-3 was much nicer, though. Then again, it was designed by an Italian. Check out that headlight configuration!

Those Italian sure love their convertibles.

Haha, I was reading up on that too. That was a LOOONNG time ago, before Prince merged with Datsun/Nissan.
