Will have to be used or lucky enough to find a non-coaxial unit. New co-axials go for 3500 or so. Is quite small but looks good if you have smaller wrists.

My vote is for a Tag Heuer Carrera. You could get a Non-Chrono Automatic locally within your price range, If you are willing to order from a site like Authentic Watches you could get the chrono.

EDIT:

Actually, If you were able to stretch your budget just slightly you would be able to get into a Breitling Superocean. I have one myself and I really love it.

Love that Tag Carrera. The Superocean looks cheap to me because of the big hands/numbers. Still way nicer than any watch I have though, lol.

He'll get a used Planet Ocean in his price range, but it will be one with Calibre 2500 :banghead:

A Sinn U1 or U2 wouldn't be bad, thought it'll have to be used in the case of the U2...

You should be able to grab one of these used for a tad above $2,000...

IWC Aquatimers on the rubber strap will often go for $2,800 used. If you can stretch the budget a hair, this is a great option.

I'm in a bit of a similar position to you at the moment, though I'm strictly looking for a dive watch and my budget is either $1,000 or $2,000. In the latter case, I am considering the non-chronograph and non-coaxial version of what Cos posted. Though you may find it a hair too dressy.

Happy hunting and let us know of your decision!

Not on bracelet, but one of my favorites. Aquaracer 500m all black.

On bracelet, with chrono.

Don't expect any discounts, this will only be available at TAG Heuer Boutique stores. :(

if you want new and your budget is $2500 i would get a Hamilton Belowzero, they have some cool watches.

Also look at Lumtec, i met the owner a couple times cool dude and the watches are pretty awesome and relatively inexpensive.

Lum-tec also seems to be pretty open about customization requests, and that would still fall under the budget. If you want rugged, you can get a tungsten model that comes with a tungsten bracelet easily within your budget

I think Hamilton makes a great watch for the money, but given your budget isn't so restraining, you can get a better (more durable) watch if you spend a little more. To be honest, I don't think Hamilton's offerings of diver's watches are terribly great. Try one on and see how you feel.

Rage2, of course an Aquaracer had to be suggested! ;)
Aquaracers are quite solid for money, they're less than Seamasters and Superoceans.

If you're not opposed to buying a Tag Heuer, I think the best offering, considering your needs and budget, would be an Aquagraph. They can still be found new, usually decently discounted as the model is now out of production...

I've seen outlets in the States selling them for around $1,600.

Try on a Cal. 1120 Seamaster Professional Chronometre, you might find it dressy, but it is a very comfortable watch to wear. And, even though it'll be tough to try before you buy, the Seiko Marinemaster 300 is a great option, still!

Those Aquagraphs just doesn't look good to me at all. Most ppl share my views, which is why they keep plummeting in price, and will probably continue to do so.

$2500 is an awkward amount for watches IMO. its not enough to get the real well known watches (new) but its more than your hamiltons, marathons, lumtecs cost.

I personally would get a used piece, collectors barely even wear the watches and they are in flawless condition. i have bought 3 watches on watchuseek and never been let down.

i already mentioned Hamilton and lum tec but you could also check out Marathon. all under your budget and all nice pieces. you could get a nice hamilton jazzmaster and a badass marathon or lumtec m phantom..
