It'll look sweet with those wheels.

I know it's going backwards now, but thought since I finally have a chance to catch my breath, that I would post some updates that I missed. Start with the body work:

First, HUGE thanks to our friend Jose that spent way more time on the fitting and bodywork then we expected, or asked for. Once he started, he just could not leave it alone, and he did an AMAZING job.

We first had a PDR dent guy come over and do what he could so that as little bodywork as possible would be needed, then Jose did his magice.

Then, big thanks to Derek and Caliber Auto who then took over, and did the final prep, prime, and paint. We could nto be happier. The guys went way above and beyond what we wanted and even hoped to get. This was supposed to be a a budget deal, the guys did way more than we expected for the money we paid.

The first bit of business was that the body kit fit like POO. It was terrible. Bumper covers had huge gaps and alignment issues, not even close to being acceptable. Here is Jose fitting the bumper covers, some body work, and the final alignment....

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/rearbumper2_zps9fbd2a05.jpg

Both front and rear bumpers fit like factory after Jose was done, but the Carbon Creations hood was a piece of poo. Gaps, alignment, and it sat up too high at the hinges. It was garbage. We sold it to a guy building a drift pig, who didn't care, and borrowed a factory hood from AutoDream for the panel fitting and paint.

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/frontbumper_zps06b7e1c9.jpg

Then onto the trailer, and off to Caliber for paint!

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/trailerpaint_zps1b131635.jpg

Derek then proceeded to final sand, prime, sand again, and reprime the car prior to the paint job, and Jose popped by to touch up little body work that he missed, and was easier to see once in primer. He is such a meticulous kind of guy, we were just going to re-rock guard the lower half like the car was, then paint over it. Nope, not good enough for him, he sandad all the old rock guard off!

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/primer_zps8676185d.jpg

Then all the door jambs were cleaned, and masked off, and painted first.

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/jambs_zps7f325ce9.jpg

And finally, the paint!! Under direct light, it is very shiney, and sparkly ;) Like my engagement ring ;)

So when we got the car back to the shop, it was time for some assembly, and our Seibon Hood showed up. It fit much better, not near factory quality which is what we expected for almost $900 and a mainly fiberglass hood, skinned with Carbon, but better than the other one, and we really wanted the extra cooling with the Vents, so we used it. Jose managed to fit and move stuff around a little to make the gaps look "acceptable".

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/seibonhood_zpsa4cd6073.jpg

Then some assembly.... bumper covers, lights, headlights, brand new weatherstrip etc...

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/glassbumpertrunk_zpsd1883092.jpg

And here it is, almost ready to hit the road!

After that, it was off to the alignment rack, where our friend Sergio made everything perfect ;)

http://i968.photobucket.com/albums/ae167/sophisticatedsilvia/alignment2_zps05e22c50.jpg

and like I said above, after our first Edmonton track day, the car would break the tires loose, and push the rear out to the side, so a little corner scaling, setting up the springs and sway bars was in order. So the car gets put on blocks and scales, is leveled with driver in the seat (or weight put there), and she is balanced. Bubby also built adjustable endlinks to be able to preload the sway bar to keep it going straight under power. This is a trial and error process. You balance it, and set it close to neutral as possible then make a run. if the car pushes to a side under power, then slight adjustments need to be made.

Thanks! The T72 was close to maxed, and the intercooler is "done", so Bubby ordered a Billet Turbonetics T7575, and a Garrett intercooler core from Alamo. We also need bigger injectors, and a 4 bar map sensor for the megasquirt.

One of my bubby's favourite pictures, just a different angle. With Dereks awesome 3000hp Drag Radial Gt500. That car has hit almost 180mph in the 1/8th mile, and 210 in the quarter (in 6.9 seconds), they are hoping for some 6.6's at 220+mph in the new year. Currently Canada's fastest west coast legal Drag Radial car.

And here are two pics of both our babies together at the end of the season ;)

I may have missed it but which plugs are you running in this thing?

I have ran bkr7e's for a long time but don't like how often they need to be changed and feel they are a bit on the hot side anyway. My new setup uses d585 coils with dwell set to around 5 ms and I'd like to run a reasonable gap. I've heard good things about bkr8eix ?

Bkr7e in Nadine's car.

What ECU are you running? The gm coils have over dwell protection and will auto discharge at above roughly 4.5ms.....which means advanced timing. Bad.

Where did you get the corner balancing done?

I was running a power fc on my previous setup ( white fc with a 1.5jz, hx40 and water/meth that you tuned). This setup uses an ms3x which I purchased with harness and gm coils already setup for a 2j. 5 ms was what the previous owner was running. What sort of dwell have you found works best?

Man... Tough call. I've tested several sets, and seen problems as early as 4.7 ms. It's doesn't seem to be time issue, more a current limit issue, but without a good way of measuring coil saturation, I'd run as little as possible to get the job done. I run her car at 4.2. No spark issues at all.

Nothing much for updates. Just waiting on parts, and bubby to free up some time to work on the car.

Got out new 75mm Billet BB turbo, giant 4.5" thick Garrett intercooler core, some very sexy carbon fiber door panels, and rear deck cover.

Still waiting on bigger injectors, a couple megasquirt parts, and the new torque converter. MAYBE a carbon fiber dash, but it is $$$

I think the best part of this is that you're using megasquirt. Such an under-rated system, I absolutely loved mine..

What do you guys think? A little JB Weld and she'll be good to run?

Long overdue update. The car so far has done everything we hoped. It went 9.9 @ 138 on pump gas. It went 8.90 @ 154 on race gas. (both at Castrol).

We are now having issues with the IRS "steering" under the bigger power upon launch. It's it almost 100% complete after all these years. The only things missing are some interior pieces, and some carpet, we will get to that over the winter.

Last year, we broke the stock 2jz bottom end on the dyno. At about 900 rwhp through the auto (hubby figures about 1130 engine hp by injector duty), it bent 5 out of the 6 stock rods. One of them bent so much, that the piston got too close to a crankshaft counterweight, and bang. Big mess. So this year, we spent the big dollars, and bought some $199 Ebay CXracing connecting rods, Probe discontinued their whole line of import pistons, so we got 2 sets of 2jz pistons for $175 a set. Rod bolts, Ebay again, this time some used "take out" Carrillo bolts for $30 (big race teams replace bolts after a fixed number of laps, still fine for most other applications).

154 mph is only about 720rwhp, so we still have more, but ran out of time, and the IRS is starting to show its quirks. We plan to solid mount the subframe, and drop the traction rod mount to improve anti squat, and hope to reduce some toe gain under squat (compression).

Here is how it looked after the last race at Castrol.

GREAT year!!! Might go to Vegas and try some Outlaw 8.5 racing in November.

A short video of where the car was at at end of 2015. There is about 300hp left on the back burner because the Suspension is currently scary.

So we are working on that, taking a little more weight out of it, and hopefully we can turn it up this year.
