This is my Zalman (Geforce GTX260,275,285) VF3000N VGA Cooler install thread, it's built for my GPU but yet it does not fit my GPU.

Long story short, my GTX 285 was heating up something fierce during games. As a short term solution I routed cooling/heating duct out my window and towards a dedicated fan blowing on the GPU. Meanwhile I ordered a GPU cooler from Zalman. Somewhere in the middle I did some research and noticed that the fan speed is locked on the unit from factory and you can install a program to regulate it's speed properly.
This mod brought my in game temps from 100+ degrees to 86 degrees.

Blurry assed pictures, I need a new camera.

GPU cooler arrived, so I pulled apart my unit:

The yellow area shows where a heat sink is to be placed, as you can see, the shape of the piece is not going to fit:

Here is what I ended up with in order for it to clear everything:

Here you can see we have another clearance problem, might as well mod this piece to fit as well:

All installed, you can see the final result here:

After install my in game temps went down to 76 degrees.
Good enough for me.
