A move in the right direction. back end is a bit camaro looking. and 4 tailpipes all in the middle is a bit much imo.

Looks like an r35 from the b pillar back.

Has any corvette had that little window behind the b-pillar?

This could go either way by the time it makes it to the roads. Keep the lines simple, like it's always been, IMO. This car is starting to enter "busy" territory.

I'm disappointed. Not much of a change. And not very clean lines. Would have been nice to see something different.

Kinda looks like it has similar lines as the DB9, just alittle more accented. The rear 1/3 looks like a Camaro. I do kinda like it but still alittle undecided...

I reserve my final judgement until I view one in real life. Not really feeling the rear end of this car. As previously mentioned it looks way to 'busy'.

Why cross-market the rear end with the Camaro? I don't think the tail lights have EVER been square/angled on the corvette.

Initial looks are fine up to the trunk. then I am the disappoint. :(

They are rounded squares on the C4, closest to square on a Corvette.

Wow, not sure what to think.

I mean it looks good, but the New Centennial 2012 Z06 is the best looking vette ever.

This new Zr1 doesn't even come close.

Looks like a flattened GT-R

-Elongated hood
-Side vents angled more
-Roof flattened towards the back
-Top the the rear pushed out with the bottom rear pushed in

If it was dual pipes on each side, rather than the four in the middle, it'd look a lot better from the rear. I'm liking the side view though!

I'm a Vette guy. Regret I sold mine, and plan to probably get another in the somewhat near future. But really, I'm not feeling this. I know it is just a rendering, but the proportions just look... wrong. The side engine vent doesn't at all flow with the rest of the car, the rear lights (as mentioned) deviate from anything Corvette has done in the past... it really just looks like someone went to town on their computer and took a guess at what it might look like, or what they wanted to see.

But I do *not* want to see this for the next generation. Being that the Corvette is really the flagship sports car representing North America, I would expect much more than this. Maybe not quite as prototypey as what Ven posted, but at least somewhat closer in that direction. Or maybe something that incorporates some of the old Mako Shark body style for nostalgic effect.

I designed this a year or so ago... just something to chew on. (Never mind the weird squished wheels. My resolution was messed when I made it):

Your design reminds me of the Stingray. Very nice!

The look in the OP's post is not at all what I would expect. Should flow more. Oddly enough, i like the 4 tips in the center. I always thought the ones with the spaced duals back there looked lost, and the off-center spread 4 a little undecided. But, it's about the only thing I like. Too busy is right.
Less GTR, more DB9!!

somewhat based? ahahha

you would think with the big retro craze going on with their styling, they would make a new Vette that has very strong Stingray DNA in its styling. they kinda suggest the curves a bit with the C6 but its too subtle.. why not just make a Vette that looks as much like a Stingray as the new Camaro looks like the '69 Camaro?

the OP design ain't bad, probably not real. can't imagine them actually putting those taillights on the production Vette.

Hey Kloubek,

I see lots of potential for that thing you made... I am willing to bet there's a **huge** crowd of people that would love to buy an R/C of that and after you've made yourself rich selling the R/C (plus the awesome homemade machines you produced them on), you can create a body kit of it so owners can put it on their real Stingrays. You should seriously think about it.

I like this better. They can even go for a split window design with this too. Much better and cleaner. Huge wheel arches and low slung, essential corvette. No vents all over. Maybe just a carbon fibre splitter and underbelly underneath to direct cooling instrad of vents. No side exausts plz... but Nice job!

So far:

Entry level car:

Carbon hood
Carbon Roof
99lbs lighter and 60% stiffer chassis

Functional hood scoop, side scoops for trans.

Race seat options, Magnesium frames

DI, Variable valves, unparalleled fuel economy in it's class

7sp trans, active rev-match.

....Looks EXACTLY like the renderings. Square tails..

Side profile looks like a 599 Ferrari.

This generation is now called the Sting-ray.

They also said the base model is faster around a track than the Grandsport C6, pulls over 1G, 0-60 under 4s.

Not the fact it'll be the best new performance bargain?

I think it was a $55,000 base price. Fantastic for this caliber of vehicle.

I am sure it is a great car for the price you pay. It always was I guess, could beat Ferrari's and Lambo's and cost half as much, but I was never really a Corvette guy. Just doesn't do anything for me. But the 4 tips in the centre makes it look pretty aggressive.

I think it looks amazing.

GM is killing it right now. I've recently bought my first one (in a long time, anyway).

The ATS is as good or better than the 3-series in V6 trim according to most journos.

The CTS-V has been worldclass for years, with the Germans just now catching up in terms of performance (interior refinement is a bit behind).

Now this?

This thing might get close to 40mpg on the highway :nut:

ugh yea GM still can't design an interior to save their life. What is up with that steering wheel? Everything just screams cheap plastic.
And back end is basically a Camero. Although glad they got rid of the round tail lights.

Guess they spent all their money on the engine.

... just saw the video: beautiful, modern/forward, LOVE the side profile, love the balance of angular and curves. Beyond impressive, at first I think I was surprised but then i realized I was surprised 5 years ago, it's time to give them credit, honestly Corvette has been kicking ass for a while now, so I'm just blown away. Great job!

The racing seats look proper.

I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by the interior. For example the steering wheels looks like silver plastic, but I believe it's brushed aluminum.

Kloubek

A real step up on all accounts.

I was a little unsure with the drawings, but the video gives a better idea how it will look in person and I don't mind it at all. Even those rear lights are actually pretty cool.

Imo, Corvettes have always looked great. So to me, the interior improvement is the real story here. It's about time a car of this calibre has a proper interior.

I told you guys the looks of the new c7 would own the new viper...
I think they did a decent job with it. but if you look closer, those seats are almost the exact same as the older generation corvette. steering wheel looks cheap.

edit... the rims are horrid. and that side vent looks completely outta place with the rest of the car.

To be honest I like the older generation better. and when i compare this car with a 427, it aint even close, in my mind. I think the 427 is an instant classic. too many weird lines everywhere with the c7. the c6 427 is so much cleaner, smoother, classier. I dunno maybe its just me

Side profile is un real.

Rear end is a bit of a shock but I'm already warming up to it.

I love the carbon roof too.

If the R35 could improve on the tail lights yet still keep its signature look, so can the Corvette.

Horrible tail light design. Rest of the car looks great; I can't believe they butchered the back end like this.

Maybe we'll warm up to it like some of you say.

Rumor on the Corvette forums is the Z06 will pack a 7.0L with 580HP, 7 speed maunual or 8 speed auto top speed of 210mph! ZR1 will have a s/c version of 7.0L with 725HP, estimated 0-60 times in under 3 sec and 1320 in 10 sec.

It's a pretty decent looking car for sure. Overall I quite like it but I'm not finding where it "owns" the Viper by any stretch.

The interior is a step up but come on, they couldn't afford a decent steering wheel? The camaro ass end really doesn't do it for me either. Overall, it is definately a step forward but has the typical "swing and a miss" GM styling miscues. Again.

Nice car? Yes. Viper owner as far as styling goes? Ha.

One would hope those panel gaps, etc. aren't indicitive of a production model.

Hopefully they've fixed the seats, interior, creaks/rattles, and automatic transmission. The corvette I rented for a week (2009) stands out as one of the worst vehicles I've ever experienced. It was quite quick though, when the transmission wasn't too busy shifting into overdrive at 30 km/h.

Sounds like the new 8spd transmission will be a big improvement over the old one at least.

Wow, very aggressive. That's quite a styling risk to take with that car. Can't wait to see it in person!

I kind of hope those numbers aren't true.

Those kind of numbers will push the base price quite a bit further outward.

The base vette increased 8-9k I think. In reality that's not that much, but think of it in percentage.

46,000 base C6
55,000 base C7

Over 20% (!!) Increase in base price.

20% Increase on a Z06 and THEN add the options pack will put it into 911 turbo territory.

Still with 580 hp, the Z06 might be a better value if what you're after are track times, mpg and high speed straights.

If that's true, then base Corvette in Canada is going to be $70k. I think I rather buy another car for the price.
