I started collecting back in 99 but just this year started taking it seriously. Just wondering if I was the only dork on here or if maybe a few others also collect and maybe willing to trade/sell cars.

I have multiples of some so if you are looking just ask

I started when I was a kid so my collection is pretty beat up.

Well played. :)

I got a bunch of Tomy cars from Asia, Matchbox, and Hot Wheels!

I have boxes and boxes of stuff from 8-10yrs ago. Think I usually went for sets of first editions, think there's 1 whole box of Treasure hunts.... Have a few of the online limited editions....

Unfortunatly its not sorted, maybe the TH's and special editions are seperated out.

I'll still browse through if I'm in a big box store and walk past the toy section.

Me too, I still buy em, but find I mostly now days buy the muscle cars. (all in boxes, but they are only a dollar still...) I have lots out of the boxes from the Redlines, to the 80's and 90's, I just can't help myself I love them.

Been buying a few lately that have interested me. They've had a bunch of cool stuff, modded S2000, Datsun 510, R32 GT-R, Civic, Scirroco GT...

I take them out of the box though (gasp!) They're meant to be played around with, they sit on my coffee table and I zip them around while I'm talking on the phone or waiting for my games to load haha. I've got a Ford GT and a Ferrari P4 that are in an infinite duel.

I always have a dozen or so in my dresser.

When I need my two year old son to be a bit more patient (long car trip, nicer restaurant or doctors appt) I give him one.

Best $1.50 spent keeping him busy for an hour or more.

However, I do hang onto any Treasure Hunts I come across.

A bunch of old well used ones sit in my basement. The better half are on display, and it clearly showcases my Lamborghini love. Every time I am at walmart or the like I always look at the hot wheels. The odd time I pick a few up.

Notables purchased recently:

- Silver Delorean DMC12
- Back to the Future Time Machine!
- Ghostbusters Ecto-1!!!

I also tried to get all the WRC editions, I am still looking for the Ford Focus. I want that M3 GT2 and the AMG!! Also one weird thing I noticed the other day; I saw an R32 Skyline GTR, but the picture on the card was of an R34...

^ toys r us south had the rally cars when I was there last week. I picked up the Subaru one for my son.

We've got tons of these, but all opened and played with.

If anyone's looking for the delorian or the skyline, the shawnessy zellers has them. Unless the sale has ended, they're half price right now too ($.74)

I bought a Ken Block Fiesta and promptly opened it. Then I realized they might be rare. Anyone know their production numbers?

I also have the two Deloreans (the time machine and just the DMC-12) carded still, because I'm not sure on their production numbers either.

Nice haul that chev truck is an error wrong way in the package. We don't get many supers in Canada because the low wages in Malaysia so they steal them to supplement their income. The regular treasure hunts are easy to find so don't expect much from them. The Sesto is nice but I'm waiting for the next color wave which IMO is way nicer (I still grabbed two lol). PM me if you want me to learn you how to optimize your hunts.

I have a few in my cube, I just pick up cars that interest me. I have been debating on whether or not to take them out of the packaging and making a parking lot in my office, but the general consensus is to keep them in the packaging, I have:

2 AE86s
Toyota FR-S
Toyota 200 GT
Nissan Skyline GT-R
Ford Fiesta Ken Block Edition
2 Ford Gran Torino
Lamborghini Aventador (neat matte black paint)
Datsun Bluebird 510
Lotus Evora
DeLorean
and a 1970 Toyota Celica

the good thing is, I work in Automotive Marketing, so it's all work-related decor :D

Recently (probably about last year) I have started buying them, it started as OP said, buying some for the little cousin. Then I kept looking through the selections and realized theres TONS more real-life make and model cars being produced now than when I was a kid! That's where it (re)started I guess.

I used to have a massive bin (about 3/4s of a garbage can) full of them when I was a kid, my dad would get me one once a month when I went to the grocery store with him, then my mom gave them all to the salvation army one day in a fit of spring cleaning without telling me (worst day of my childhood). I moved on to 1:18 scale die casts (Maisto-Bburago) and still have lots of those, post a pic when I get home.

I come across these a lot on my weekend hunts for Transformers and when I hear them ask about some of the prices, they're selling some of them for a couple of hundred dollars. Last weekend there was a guy oogling one because it had both surf boards on the roof, apparently they're normally lost or broken. I don't get it, what causes certain metal cars to be worth money and others not? It doesn't make any sense to me. I was trying to dig through his N64 cartridges and they wouldn't even move, they were in some sort of Hot Wheels hypno-trance.

I had a couple growing up but we never called them Hot Wheels, we just called them Dinkies. And the only thing we did with them was stand across the room and see whom would make the other bloodier by whipping them at each other, then we'd bury them in the yard and leave them out there for 2 years. I remember I had the little white Ghostbusters car, the Dukes Of Hazzard and the KITT Car. Beyond that I just remember boxes of metal cars that all looked the same. I'm pretty sure I still have them somewhere, I'd be willing to trade them or give them away if someone really wanted them. Though they're at my parents' house in Newfoundland.

Yikes!! Sucks to hear.

I collect though HW is not my main interest. I buy mainly because they are easiest to get in the city LOL. My main interest is Tomica, followed by Matchbox.

I have yet to find a Super in the wild.. Only found regular T-hunts.

I'm just getting into the HW game.

Started with a few finds from Safeway for 1$ then I started checking Walmart every so often, then on and on it went until I came up with this collection so far:

http://www.modelexis.com/beyond/HW/20170409_185634.jpg

My favs are,
Magnus Walker Porsche, Fairlady 2000, GT Ford GT, new NSX

I've got more coming, but I won't post them up until they arrive.

That's a cork board in the background with a frame around it if anyone's wondering, works well for pinning each row on for display, and you can hang it on a wall if you want.

My parents sold all of mind many years ago at a garage sale for $5. A couple hundred. I am still mad to this day about it.

My kids have a few hundred now and even though they aren't really interested in them anymore (they are about to be 9 and 11) I refuse to let them give any away. I insist that one day they will be happy I made them keep them. :burnout:

^Nice!

Sometimes I think about buying hot wheels (would prefer die cast) versions of all the vehicles I have owned so far and displaying them in my games room in the basement somehow but I think I will end up dropping way too much money on toy cars and not sure if that's worth it! Haha.

Also, I don't like to keep things in packaging so I wouldn't do that either.

I used to be big into hotwheels as a kid. Love em. Don't really "collect" anything these days, but I wouldn't mind a couple on my desk at work. I should see if they are still in my moms basement.

I'd really love a Ford F series 1967-1972 one. Learned to drive in one of those, and that's what my dad drove camping when I was a kid. Lotta memories in that.

I’ve been working on having a die cast version of all my cars

I have my M235i and my C63. I also have an E92 M3 which I would like to own one day.

Need a MkV GTI one which has proven difficult.

Not nearly as interested in die cast versions of my beaters like my jeep or pickup though. But I guess it would round it out.

About a year ago, I got introduced to a Hotwheels collector and he showed off his collection to me. It is kept in his business here in the city in the back, and if you go to the store you wouldn't even know it was there...

But, HOLY SHIT! dude literally has THOUSANDS of brand new, in the package Hotwheels of every era and vintage, many multiples of a car in every imaginable livery, and from what I saw, probably a good half of them are hanging from the walls arranged in such a way that just the car in the bubble part of the package is shown, while the rest of the packaging is hidden by the car directly above it. Plus the guy has probably a dozen display cases to show off his more desirable cars or oversized stuff and stuff out of box. The guy even has his staff cruising eBay for him during their shifts and bidding on stuff he wants, and he also travels to conventions and such with the sole intention of buying the exclusives there. The guy is bonkers, but full props to his commitment.

I don't really want to give more details than that though as I don't think he really wants his collection well known. But literally with no exaggeration here, if he has less than 20,000 hotwheels, and that less than 15,000 of them are NIB, I would be shocked. It truly is a really impressive collection!

But literally with no exaggeration here, if he has less than 20,000 hotwheels, and that less than 15,000 of them are NIB, I would be shocked. It truly is a really impressive collection!

Just like my brother in law, his collection is nutty and its all unopened. Takes up an entire basement.

I only have two Hot Wheels and I wish they were cars I owned.

Has anyone come across a white A250?
All I can find is the white and red one
