View Full Version : Driver Offroads on 14th St to Glenmore W Ramp.
Single Vehicle accident involving a wesbount vehicle entering Glenmore Trail West from North Bound 14th ST Flyover. Car passed off the road and was retained by the Security barriers preventing the vehicle from falling down the cliff face to the reservoir.
No major injuries appear to have been suffered.
The barriers likely saved the occupant(s) from death as they would have tumbled into the reservoir some 120 feet below.

crazy people....
good thing those barricades were there other wise that guy would have probably died.....
Looks to have the back end come out on the corner, over compensated, cut accorss the lane, then cut back accross, off the road, overcorrected again but smacked the barrier and continued scraping the barrier untill being stopped by the pillar.

Great pics, Ben.
There's some major damage underneath the car. Looks like it caught air after hitting the barrier.

Thats the third vehicle I've seen twisted around behind that cement wall this week, but that car has made it the farthest yet.

Just a observation based on the stupidity that seems to be getting worse in this city.... maybe we should remove the idiot barriers and let the idiots go over the cliff!!! or better yet, make people earn their drivers licence like in Europe?

What kind of car was that?
Actually, that bridge is icy as hell!!! You could be sliding going just even 50 in this weather! Rule of thumb is to go into it as slow as the guy following you will allow and then accelerate from there! Also stay on the right hand lane since the curve is not as tight there!

Everytime it snows theres a car wrapped around something there.... you would think people would take it easy around there by now.

I was on that bridge last night, and I've never had a problem with it until yesterday. I swear, I was barely doing 30 and I felt my back end sliding around - normally I can do 40-60 in bad weather.

You'd be surprised how many people drown to death in their cars. I think that's why they have that informative commerical telling you how to escape from a submerged car.
You're SOL in Calgary in this kind of weather though because you'd probably freeze to death before you drowned!
Here's an even closer call:

Nice pics. I saw three seperate accidents on my way home from Mount Royal this morning all with in 20minutes. One on the Crowchild to Glenmore East flyover (3 cars against the gaurd rails), another one on Glenmore Westbound where Deerfoot merges (about 4 cars slammed together and 2 firetrucks and 5 cop cars where at the scene!), and a third one on Deerfoot Southbound on the Calf Robe bridge (2 cars against the guard rails). I wish I had my camera
Be careful everybody.
And who the hell gives a parking ticket to a crashed/immobile car? That's the ultimate example of kicking you while you're down

Great pics ben, quality post!
I think they might need to add some more pillars IMO. Those few might help, but more would be better.
Good pic on the pillars.

classic calgarian driving, thats why the deerfoot is clogged up all morning, people here thin they have a H1 full time while behind the wheel.
