Have a spare key I need programmed for my sport trac. Dealer wants 120$ per key. That's just programming. Stupid....

Do call around. The different dealers charge different prices for this. I needed a second key for my 2000 Expedition, and Crowfoot (now Northstar) was significantly cheaper than universal and metro.

As far as I know, if you only have one key, the second key will have to come from a dealership.
Once you have two, you can program them yourself, and any locksmith can cut them.

Take that key out and put the 2nd good key in and turn it to run....wait for the pats to prove out. Take that key out and put the unprogrammed key in and turn it to the run position. The doors will lock and unlock to let you know the new key is now programmed. Don't take too long between keys or you will have to redo it. (within a few seconds each).

Cos, to program a fob, just cycle the key from off to run position 8 times (ending in run position). The door locks will lock and then unlock.....press any button on the new fob after that and the fob will be programmed to the vehicle.

Crap I only have the one. Oh well I guess add it to the list I have to get done in Lethbridge. Maybe I will stop by on Wednesday/Thursday and get an oil change and a key done.

I will have to find the fob online and do it. Sounds easy enough.

Dammit! What dont you understand about group buy?!? Haha I would have bought a 3rd with you (or I'll buy the second one if you dont want it :D)

Oh yeah and Maclin is nuts. $1000.00 for Tranny flush, both diffs, and the transfer case. I find good prices at Cam Clark and Universal (although I dont like Universal). Or if you are in Lethbridge I almost only go to College Ford now for parts and service. I will actually drive my truck down broken to have one of their techs look at it (who happens to be posting in this thread ;))

Its amazing how much dealers will charge for key+ reprogram.

For Nissan, a simple chipped key costs $111-130. Reprogram fee is $145. You want a key fob also?$128.

Reprogram takes the tech maybe 15-20 mins to do the key, but you get charged a whole hour for install.

Keep those extra keys you ordered off Ebay. Get them cut at any hardware store, then program them yourself. That way, you will never have to worry if you lose one key again.

I found a guy on ebay with brand new Ford IKT keys for $40 plus $10 to ship to Calgary. These are the ones that have the 4 buttons on the key (they came with my 2010 Ford Escape and have lock, unlock, panic and a 4th button to pop the trunk if press it twice)

If anybody wants in, he will sell extra keys and just toss them in the box with no extra shipping.

These are real Ford keys, not the knock off ones that are being sold on ebay.

Let me know soon, as I'm ordering this weekend.
