View Full Version : False advertising by Infinity

Hi all,

I recently purchased a new infinity fx 50 and upon pickup my salesman told me that the truck has a feature called "laser cruise". It is supposed to keep the car between lanes in case the driver loses focus or for what ever other reason.

So here is the issue now. I was driving and received a text, so I looked at my phone assuming that my new truck will guide itself around the upcoming bend, and well it didn't. My truck ended up driving off the road and side scraping a barrier. The car is still drivable but has significant damage to the front and driver side.

When I took it back to infinity they told me there was nothing they can do for me, even though they advertised this truck with such feature.

And yes I had cruise control on, so the laser cruise feature was enabled.

Has anyone else ever been in this situation?

Regards

Similar thing happened to me before. My Garmin GPS didn't indicate that the road ended and turned into a huge ditch that was being dug for a water hole. It used to be a road then they revamped it to make an interchange. Well I was staring at the GPS and even though I saw there was no road ahead, I mowed down all the road blocks hoping to see paved road behind it...well I drove my truck right off the road into that 10 ft ditch instead while Garmin kept telling me to keep going. Needless to say I now have a lawsuit with Garmin for $80 million for my damaged truck and emotional stress. My lawyer says I will get a good half of that. I highly suggest you (individually) to file a "class action" lawsuit against Infinity.

First off, it is INFINITI.
Second off it is not laser cruise, and the adaptive tech does not drive for you, it is if you are gradually drifting out of your lane, it will brake you back into the lane.
Thirdly I hope this is true as it is hilarious.

im pretty sure it just keeps the distance between you and the person infront of you. say if the guy infront of you is slows down on the highway, your vehicle will slow down aswell. its a cruise control option.

So he purchased the vehicle and picked it up from the dealership but then later his mom won't let him drive his own car? Nice.

What a clown, at least your mom seems to have a tiny bit of a brain by not letting you drive. Hopefully the insurance company finds out how this happened.

The Acura system keeps a distance. This is supposed to guide me back into the lane as schocker stated.

FraserB
11-25-2011, 03:34 PM
The FX-50 has Intelligent Cruise Control. You set it and if the car in front slows, you automatically slow as well. It will then re-accelerate to the set speed.

It does not drive the car or steer it for you.

Yes, it does guide you, but not as much as you think. Say you are slightly drifting on a straight road, that is when it would brake and correct you back into your lane. Not steering of the vehicle. This system also keeps a distance and does braking and warning for front collisions with sonar.

Yes because I am Infiniti Fan No. 1
It can't steer, only make slight corrections by braking and that could also change depending on road conditions if say there is no lane marker for it to see.

No-one has been in you situation because we aren't stupid enough to believe the vehicle is going to drive itself for you...

this is the problem with a great majority of the youth now. Every one gets things handed to them on a silver platter, rather they are fed with the silver spoon. Some of us may text and drive sure, those people are at least smart enough not to hit a barrier when doing so. Relying on laser cruise to steer you vehicle, do some research.

You probably expect the car to hammer its brakes when a kid jumps out in a playground zone as well. Because face it everyone speeds there too.

I can see it now when you slam into a police officer parked on the side of the road. I am sorry officer I was just finishing a text and I thought that my laser guided cruise would stop me from hitting you.

Left hand flash light, right hand camera. Or you could mix it up and do left hand camera and right hand flashlight. I fail to see what is so hard, unless you have one hand, which would also explain the lack of steering response while texting.

Stay on the bus. I find it comforting to know you're not out on the road.
