I bought a car fitted with a loud chirpy HKS BOV. After a couple weeks it's driving me absolutely crazy.
I understand that the sound comes from air passing over the three fins. I'm about to open the thing up and cut all the fins off.

Thoughts? Alternative ideas?

Take the cover off and just remove the fin insert. You can buy replacements that will change the sound. I run the gold fins in mine, they sound great.

Yah and increase spool between shifts.
or
as said above use, 1-2 hands and approximately 3-5 minutes and actually unbolt the top cap and remove the fins without ruining them.

Take the fins out. Takes 2 seconds and it sounds great after. Quieter than other BOVs too.

As far as i know, the synchronic also uses an HKS style flange...maybe a possibility.

My friend's synchronic is louder than my fake HKS with cut fins. :)

I think so too. Pulled the piece out and now it's much more quiet and subtle.

Correct. Mine came with the optional style, and I wanted the stock one. What's funny about that?

your post led me to believe that you thought the gold fin sounded different than the one that comes with the blow off valve.

Ah. That makes more sense.
