I was looking at some winter jackets and found these Mooseknuckle jackets. They retail for ~$700 which seems pretty pricey but I wonder how they compare to the Canada goose jackets. Any one have one of these jackets? Thoughts?

From the below thread, mooseknuckle seems to be a bit more body fitting.

$700 is big money for a jacket. can't bitch about their marketing though...

Really? There's jackets called moose knuckles? Aren't moose knuckles male camel toes? I came into this thread thinking Canada Goose is some new fancy term I've never heard of.

their jackets look exactly like CG but where the CG logo usually is, the MK logo is there instead. They use duck, CG uses goose down?

Get a Canada Goose if you're wanting to shell out the money and think that $600+ for a jacket is worth it. There are more than one type of Canada Goose jacket so check which one suits your needs/wants.

Saw them at the Bay...

Love how it's only 0 degrees this past month and all the douchebags in this city are walking out around with their Canada Goose coats cuz you know they just can't wait to wear them to show off how much $$ they got. Reminds me of the 2000's when everyone wore their Northface jackets even when they were indoors.

Canadian Goose - You lay a girl down in the middle of the floor naked. you proceed to take a running start diving over her and shitting on her in mid-air. For full effect make a honking sound.

I'd beg to differ. I'd argue Canada Goose is a fashion jacket too. I was at Pebble Street last week and almost every Asian kid that walked in was wearing one.

100% agree with d'nutz...Canada Goose = the new ed hardy

Some goose down jackets are functional, my dad has a really nice one from around 30 years ago, it's warm, is cut properly to allow you full movement and doesn't tear easily.

But seeing as this is the fashion section I think the OP is looking for the walk around in banff type of goose down jacket.

The Canada Goose Expedition is the warmest jacket that I've ever owned. You could wear a t-shirt underneath in -40 and still be warm. Can't say the same for their more recent models.

Yes and no. I don't own a Canada Goose jacket so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But you can't fault the company or the buyers for getting a jacket getting popular because it works.

Really, this dilemma is two-sided.

(A) The jacket works and it works well. It's expensive but has a strong FUNCTIONAL value. There is a reason why scientists/workers living in arctic conditions have relied on the brand for decades.

(B) The jacket gets attention simply because it is expensive. The douchyness comes with people buying it for its MONETARY value rather than its functional value. The fact that it actually has functional value is a bonus.

The jacket is honestly too expensive and is the sole reason I haven't bought one. Instead I've bought a pretty good jacket from MEC and layered. If what Rural is suggesting is true (the quality is going down), it really isn't worth it at all.

could never justify 700$ for a coat. Id rather buy a 75$ coat on sale and buy a new big screen LED TV with the left over money:thumbsup:

It's not that the quality is going down. I just meant that their recent models (ie. chateau, calgary, banff, etc) are more geared towards urban styles and less extreme climates. Still very well insulated jackets.

i find that the canada goose bombers are quite useless as they're often too short, unless you are like 5'5".

I've got a CG Chateau and it's the warmest jacket i've ever owned, plus it fits a lot better than the Expedition.

I do not get this fad. I grew up in the NWT and it was very common and uncool to be rocking a CG coat. Hell, my dad wore one for most of his life. There is no way my dad is considered cool. But I at least understand why he rocked the coat. It is fucking cold up there. There is no way Calgary gets cold enough, for long enough, to justify spending the money on a CG coat. What's next? Is everyone going to be rocking inuit parkas?

:dunno:

I'm not sure if I like Moose Knuckles as much as Canada Goose. It looks more feminine and the logo looks poorly designed. I'd probably get a Canada Goose over MK.

They sell them a Holt and the Bay now?
