I've heard of some people getting like $200 round trip (tax in ) tickets to Europe. If this was true and available I would do this instantly. Any tips? Do these tickets actually exist?

This was a one off on a pricing mistake on travelocity.com.

You can get some cheap flights for Jan/Feb/Mar with air transat. $49+ tax (taxes to LGW are around $500) but that is going to be the cheapest you'll probably see it

$550ish roundtrip after taxes is the lowest you can normally expect to ever see them drop to. Air Transat/Thomas Cook are the only flights that ever drop anywhere near this level.

Whoever told you $200 tax in is most likely someone who bought a $99 each way flight on Air Transat (fairly common base-fare price), which works out to $550ish-$600ish after tax, and likely doesn't understand how much they paid, or there was a mis-communication between you and the person who said that.

CanadianAffair is a reseller of such flights, although it can be worth checking AirTransat.ca directly, and even a search on Expedia & Orbitz via Kayak. These 3 sources can often have different prices, for the same flights.

Air Transat & Thomas Cook flights typically start dropping about 3-6 weeks before departure. Flights to London and Manchester are typically cheapest, although Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Glasgow can be worth a look.

$100 after taxes to an island off the coast of Spain and back is the current record low from YYC to Europe. Such a fare did occur in 2009, but it was a mistake fare, and God only knows if it was a once in a lifetime event or not.

Do they still have Air Courier cheap tickets where you deliver stuff? Was curious, cuz I just rewatched Eurotrip a few days ago.

I'm ultimately trying to get to Spain... considering just flying to the UK with a backpack and a fistful of dollars. Hit up ryan air flight across the channel for $30 or what ever. Fuck it

Thomas Cook flights are alright and cheap but when I described my flight to my parents who took Lufthansa, it sounded like a shithole. Cheap flights can be had for 600, I think you could snag something for 800-900 fairly easily and often enough.

Also be careful of Ryanair when you're over there. They are notorious for charging ridiculous amounts if you are over any of their baggage limits. Most people I met that took advantage had a small light carry on bag and that's it.

Thomas Cook is on the brink of collapsing. So be aware, just incase...

CanadianAffair is always best. And easyjet/ryanair aren't as good as it seems, loads of extras to add in the end. But flights from UK to Europe can be had as cheap as 30quid, one way.

From UK to European destination these are good sites

Has anyone had experience with that canadianaffair.ca? They have a flight on there through air transit that is not available on the air transit site, which is not inspiring confidence.

A bit odd that, but not to sure about .ca side. When I go from UK to Calgary. Canadian Affair air transat flights are always cheaper than flights directly with air transat

How much cheaper is it going this route? Im assuming you are trying to save money by having a connecting flight in NYC.

They need to be used by the end of the year, everyone is just giving away their unused ones.

Well thanks to this thread I'm off to London, then to Berlin tomorrow morning! The flight all in to london was $734 including seat selection for $35 and late booking charge of $15 ...you can't go anywhere in NA for that. So it will be Berlin for New Years- PROST!!

Roundtrip or one way?

Not calling your friend a liar, but that looks suspiciously like the pre-tax roundtrip prices on britishairways.com at the moment. ($1200ish roundtrip after taxes)

Would love to be proven wrong though if you have any other details.

Flight center, I was sitting right beside her when she booked it so I saw the price. I thought she got round trip but I just asked and it was one way, I've seen round trips that are cheaper than one way though.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. I would definitely believe $734 after taxes for one way to Finland. (Just under 2/3 the cost of a usual roundtrip price)

Roundtrips are *occasionally* cheaper than one way flights (to certain destinations), but to Finland, the bottom roundtrip price is around $1100-$1200ish after taxes. $734 roundtrip would be an incredible price.

There were some flights for around $865 roundtrip after taxes to Norway, Sweden, and Denmark but that's the cheapest I've ever seen to Nordic Europe.

Just got back- what a deal. It was $655 with all taxes in, then I added my seat selection and there was a late booking fee so out the door it was $717 return to London. I couldn't even get to winnipeg for that amount during the same period. The flight was fantastic, great service (hot) and we were well fed and watered. Its a little cozy but if you are not obese or extremely large, its fine. I will use that as my launching pad for all things Europe now...got to spend a night in London as well which was great.

I'm preparing to book with CanadianAffairfor around $600 all in to London (Gatwick). From there a round trip with baggage ect to Spain is only about 75$ each way.

I can't believe these deals.... I spent about $400 just to get to Vancouver and back on semi short notice back in October......

Is $750 all in Calgary-Manchester from March 30-April 7 the norm?

And what's a good airline to use to get from Manchester to Amsterdam? I've heard Ryan Air, any other suggestions?

taemo

out of curiosity, how much can I expect for a roundtrip flight to Paris, London or Amsterdam in September, May or June?

I have enough Airmiles to fly to europe (and still have to pay 600$ in taxes:thumbsdow) so I don't know if I should just buy the tickets with my own money or use my airmiles

msommers
01-20-2012, 11:18 AM
750 sounds normal to UK, yes. Well for Air Transit.

Taemo, I'd just pony up the extra hundred or so dollars and save your miles. Although, see what else you can buy with them and if it's more $200 bucks in value, buy a plane ticket. Paying more than $800 all in to get to Europe means you're going further than Amsterdam or UK and aren't patient; sales happen often enough if you're flexible.

Just in case anyone is interested, there are some crazy prices to London and Manchester on Air Transat at the moment.

$399 roundtrip after taxes, cheapest I've ever seen on AT, even for winter travel.

London: Feb 1-18, Feb 4-15, Feb 4-18, Feb 8-15, Feb 8-18
Manchester: Feb 10-18

FYI - I have found that bookings thru CanadianAffair are identical or a couple bucks more than going directly through Airtransat in about 95% of cases.

My folks live in the UK so I've been flying back every xmas for about 5 yrs now. The cheapest flights we've ever found were through Canadianaffair flying on thomas cook. Two years ago I had a direct flight from Vancouver to Gatwick for $350 return. And that was over christmas. Never even come close to that on any other site.

I'm looking for similar. Mid June to start of July. Prepare to feel assrape though. I've found nothing under $1,000 yet to Frankfurt or Munich unless you're willing to leave mid week.

Air transat calgary to frankfurt direct has always been good. My brother paid $300 + tax last june and in the summer ive seen it at $700 all in if you go from edmonton.

Not if you get into July. Prices instantly go up. I was looking earlier this week on Air Transat's website, and you're right about June, but a return date in July raises price $200+ (excl additional taxes) instantly.

Things to consider - Olympics, and backpacking students. Of course the price will be more expensive in the summer

YYC – London Gatwick $401

May 4th – 07:25Land

12:10 – 15:35 – EasyJet (Skyscanner)
- Krakow ($134)

Total: $535

Edit: Paying baggage and fees with EasyJet the total is $566

How is this price for 1way? I want to go between May 1st - 15th and prefer to only buy a 1 way ticket, since I have no idea when I will be coming back..
