View Full Version : Most Expensive Thing Ever Purchased

Just curious on the most expensive item you guys have ever bought.

Excluding a car or house.

For me its just been a engagement ring @ 10grand and for myself, rims @ $2500. I know its probably peanuts compared to what you guys have bought, but that's what the thread is for.

Undergrad. Where I went to school, post-grad was cheap in comparison (about half the cost).

edit: just looked up tuition costs for this year... its gone up by 50% since I left 8 years ago! Things were tight when I went, I don't know how you guys manage now

I like this thread, dont know why you have to leave stupid comments if you dont like it.

My trip to asia (vietnam and thailand) cost me 2k plus spending which was totally worth it. I bought an XPS for 1800 a few years back and man do those things get out dated quick but its still running strong so I guess I cant complain.

Rims were ~$3K

Oh, right, my favorite. $2700 for a 32" LCD TV. Early adopter FTW!!

^^^ Haha.. Gotta love it.

I have one 17" comp monitor I got for $700 when flat screen monitors first hit the market (its nothing special). And just bought a 22" as a second monitor for $200 and it blows the old one out of the park.

according to bmo's money logic...

in the last year $38,500 into "home" is the big winner. second place is "investments" at $21, 500 and rounding out the top 3 is "transportation" coming in at $17,300

Am I the only one who thinks it's insane to spend that much on engagement rings?

No you arent alone. What I spent on the engagement ring for my wife was enough and it wasnt that much.

My biggest purchase was probably my wedding. 20k before I stopped wanting to count. :( Biggest purchase I wanted to buy?.... probably a couple of my watches or maybe trips if not counting motor vehicles or houses.

My watches in total probably equal 5k and my trips are well over 15k.

My investments TOTAL more than those but that has been over a couple years so it wasnt one lump purchase.

Aside from mortgage and vehicles (incl. mods), it's probably a close tie between my wedding last year and tuition ($~30k+ each).

I think 10k is too much. I just paid for one today at $2300 1.65ct Princess cut with 18k white gold.

On a side note, anyone want to buy a 2011 Factory Five Gen II GTM kit? Great winter project for a baller. ;)

Off-Topic, but is it true that as a Class 1 holder you have a lower maximum of demerits because you're considered a "professional driver?"

Top down.
New truck, new tools, new mountain bike.
And no you dont get more or less demerits. You're expected to be a "professional driver" and drive properly, therefore extending the time your demerits will last :P. thats something a driving examiner told me once.

How much does divorce papers cost? Or is it a tongue in cheek way of saying the other took half? How much the claim itself? and im guessing you pay a lawyer a hourly fee?

It was a 2009 Cove Hooker , 1 of 5 in the team color scheme. Such a sweet bike , but I didn't ride it enough. I didn't even take it to Silverstar :banghead:
