Bought a little Xmas gift for myself this year.

I've heard great things about the M51, so I'm psyched! Anybody else here owns a Lumtec?

Can't WAIT for it to arrive :

no duty, they're made in the USA. shipping via FedEx, so there are some brokerage fees. I think my total was $45 for shipping + fees

Ive started to like the look of these lately and considering the reasonable pricing, I am thinking of picking one up.
Any advantage to buying direct from LumTec versus the Canadian distributor Wristweapon. It seems if you order from Wristweapon that shipping is free and there would be no brokerage or extra fees.

Im liking the Combat series. Considering something like the B16 or B17. Anything else to consider when selecting one of these? Im not partial to a particular movement but thinking automatic this time. Any of the movements to stay away from?
Any general input on LumTecs is appreciated.

Lum Tec doesn't offer any movements I'd stay away from.

The movements used on the quartz and auto watches are reliable ones.

Ive had my M51 for a few months now and i love it.

Just ordered a Combat B2 as a retirement gift for my dad, looking forward to seeing this one.

Both from the canadian dealer, wristweapon.com. Definite savings on customs and shipping. Was doing a calculation based on official usa website and its quite a big diff.

Chose the B2 for the Swiss ETA 6498-1 movement over the Japanese, just personal preference.

Beautiful cases... from what I've read are very well built

however the only issue I have is the fact that they use Myota auto movements and only have one ETA

its not so much that's a problem, but they are uni-directional wind I belive, and they aren't the prettiest to look at...

have any of you guys bought the one w/ the ETA? I wonder what's stopping them from buying a mid-grade 2824

Funny, I was just reading about that last night.

Their VSeries actually uses 2824-2 movement

Both of the LUM-TECs I own have ETA movements. The M26 has a Soprod 9040. The other is a Combat F1, which has the Valjoux 7750. Seems as though the newest models don't have Swiss movements. I wonder if it is a supply issue?

lint

based on the chat in their forum, it is a supply issue forcing them to move away from ETA

I was wondering if anybody has any issues with trying to order a Lum-Tec. I've tried both on their website as well as the wristweapon website and had no luck. With the Lum-tec website I'm getting an error about the CV number on the back of my credit card. On the wristweapon website I click add to cart but there is nothing that follows, no checkout button. Is there anywhere that will sell Lum-Tec's locally? Or does anybody else know another website they can refer?

Thanks

Well the Fedex guy dropped off my new watch today...yippie. The bad news is that I think there's a problem with it. It's a mechanical wind movement however I can't pull the crown out. I think it was over wound from the factory. I will be calling for service in the morning, but am I ever disssapointed already.

are you sure its not a threaded crown?

Ntense_SpecV

Okay. The site says screw lock crown, but the manual only mentions to wind clockwise. To set the time, pull out crown?WTF am I doing wrong? I can't get it turn either way.

I have an automatic watch with a screw down crown. If I tighten the crown too tight, and dont unscrew for a month or so, it is difficult to unscrew. I have thought in the past it was stuck as well. Maybe try turning counter clockwise a little harder? :dunno:

I had asked Wrist Weapon about the M23, they told me it was sold out. I asked if they could import one from Lum-tec since their website said it was in stock. They told me they didn't have any either, and the Lum-tec website just wasn't updated.

I ordered one directly from Lum-tec and it was here a few days later :dunno:

I got the sapphire back for the M23 as well, wish they had them for more of the combat watches:

I was looking for a discon tungsten as well a few months back.

I asked Wrist Weapon if they can order it because like you said, it says in stock on Lum-Tec website.

I was told that when a watch is running low, Lum-Tec reserves the final few and don't distribute to dealers.

Sounds like this is the same case.

for those of you that ordered from wrist weapon, did your watch just show up without any communication from the company? ie. "your watch has been shipped via fedex, here is your tracking number"

cause besides the automated "you ordered a watch" email i never got anything confirming my order. its been almost a full week now with no info.

EDIT: found them, junk mail of my paypal linked email... not the email i put into the order :nut:

also this is what the tracking number says

"Your item was delivered at 10:57 am on August 13, 2012 in LYNDEN, WA 98264. The item was signed for by L COOKE."

i have ordered 3 watches from wrist weapon and they are extremely communicative from the moment my order goes through.

you receive 2 tracking numbers, one indicates it is shipped from lum-tec usa.

once it clear customs, they send you a purolator tracking number which usually means your watch is going to show up in the next 24 hours cause they ship express.

call Devon, he has helped me out big time since my first watch.
