Which Canon is better

Without getting into a long story, can a knowledgeable person tell me which of these two are better.

Rebel T3 or Rebel eos xs 1000d

And is $300 ok

(edit-not based on actual personal usage- I have a T2i)

looks like the T3 is the 1100d (so it should be better than the 1000d)

if it's definitely these two, the T3 appears to be a step up:
