Okay, the sports forum is slowing down so I'll try to get some discussion going. (Yeah, the guy with 0.07 posts/day  )

Any other clones out there who listen to Jim Rome? I think it's some of the best stuff on radio period. He brings good knowledge to his 'takes' and really keeps your attention. As well, he doesn't just stick with sports and discusses other topics too. He'll share with everyone else about what's pissing him off or what he thinks is funny. And he brings his own humor to the table as well. The call-in part of the show is also quite entertaining. He gets lots of good callers who have "good takes" but if any of those annoying unknowledgeable callers get through, he doesn't hesitate to run them off the show. I highly recommend listening to his show if you have any interest in sports.

The other stuff on the Fan 960 is decent as well. The Joe (Sports) and Kevin show has its moments and Rob Kerr is quite a talent himself. I think he hosts the Hockey Show, the Flames games, and then he does Overtime after the games. Rob Kerr is a pretty smart guy too but he doesn't throw his opinion down on everyone else.

Blah blah blah

Anyone else have their own thoughts?

Jim Rome is the man!! I've been listening to him for the longest time. I used to watch his show religiously as well when it was on (The Last Word) but I heard he cancelled it cause he wanted to focus on radio. As far as I can remember The Last Word was one of the most watched shows on Fox Sportsnet. Now they've replaced it with a ripoff show along the same lines (The Best Damn Sports Show Period).

Jim Rome is wicked cause he tells it like it is. If he's got a beef with someone he's interviewing he's gonna tell you he does or if you did something he doesn't agree with he'll mention it on air and probably say it to your face as well!

Never really listened much to the rest of the programming on Team 960 but maybe I'll give it a try.

I love Rome. I've gotta start listening to him again! I can't wait to have a desk job so I can listen to him every AM!

Jim left Fox and now hosts 'Rome is Burning' on ESPN.

Yeah, it was pretty funny last year when Bill Walton ditched his interview twice so Jim tore him up. "Throw it down big man!" "Robert Horry is the best entry passer in the history of the NBA!" :D

I dunno if they ever reconciled though...

I used to listen to the Jungle back in the day when it was on 66cfr late at night before I'd go to sleep. Ahhh those were the days, funny ass show, that is still very informative.

I always listened to the Jungle before going to sleep. I would sometimes tape it and listen to it before a hockey game to get me in the mood... :D

Rome's funny but you can tell that he often runs out of material to talk about because he often repeats his points for about a half hour before talking about another.

He has good points too, but I sometimes have a hard time believing that they're his points because his speaking is so fragmented. He'd often pause mid-sentence so he can read or flip the page. "How stupid. . . . . . . . . . <page flip>. . . . . . Can Shaq be?"

LOL

The man needs a breather inbetween takes! If he had a co-host, there won't be as much dead air.

Rome is hilarious - listen to it the one day a week I work!
The other day, from 10:30 on he kept asking for people to call in and 2 and a half hours later his show ended and he didn't take a single call - he was ranting about the baseball dude that did gay porn and some other stuff. But he's the best thing to happen to radio in awhile.

The first few times I listend to his show, I would tune in to the station, crank the volume, then 4 seconds later his voice is booming over the speakers....that guy loves the pause...
