I have a window that broke last night. Its an 'Awning style' window from what I have read online.

How much is replacing the glass going to set me back? What would be my cheapest options?

Here is two pictures:

Your best bet for least expensive is to see if can remove the sash (the moving part of the awning frame tht holds the glass). You may need to temporarily board up the window. Take it into a glass shop like Crystal glass and have the glass replaced. It's an older window from the looks off it so nothing special to do about replacing the glass. I'm guessing maybe $200 at MOSt if that.

We just paid $100 to have a pane replaced in a patio door, approx 28"x24".

Even called around and there weren't many places that were much cheaper if you could even find a place that answered the phone. Window glass has become quite expensive.

Why not just replace it yourself? Get a glass shop to cut a pane of that exact size. Wouldn't be more than $30 bucks.
Remove the old putty (glazing), place window, replace putty[ glazing). (Although I see in your window they've used wood...but use the proper glazing when you replace it)
I did that in an old basement window. Not hard at all.
You may want to wait for warmer weather. You want the putty to remain soft and pliable during the job.

Yah I think I am going to take the DIY road.

My neighbour walked by and asked what happened, turns out he is a glazier and said that the repair is actually pretty simple, told me I can borrow some tools if I like. Also a place called Tim's Reusables supposedly sells lots of used windows like this.
