Tips for cheap flights from Vancouver to New Zealand

I'm flying to New Zealand for a year and am looking for cheap flights. I've been keeping my eyes on the airline sites as well as expedia and priceline. Does anyone know any other sites that are legit and have good prices? Thanks

(Our seasons, not theirs). That will give a good idea of the bottom price one can expect to find, roundtrip after taxes. But since you're going for a year, that makes things a little more difficult.

Can also try a search over at http://matrix1.itasoftware.com/ and then find the price on Kayak or Orbitz.

Air New Zealand occasionally puts out a sale or two and is often your best bet.

Hasn't been anything too notable to Australia or NZ from YYC in quite a while.

Thanks for the info guys, thought I'd post up what I actually got. The matrix link that CMYDEN put up showed me a flight for $887 and I called up travel cuts who booked it for me with no extra fee or anything. That price was $400-500 cheaper than any other site I'd found. Thanks everyone, and thanks to CMYDEN for the link!! :thumbsup:

Glad it helped. $887 is a one way price I take it? Certainly haven't seen a roundtrip to New Zealand that cheap in a long time, even from Vancouver.

GF just booked today for $1400.00 return. She said a seat sale just started today.

$887 is a very good price.

Flying to NZ I went YVR > SFO > AKL for roughly $900 tax in.
Flying Home I went CCH > SYD > HNL > YVR for roughly $800, but I flew Quantas to HNL, and got a seat sale from WJ to YVR

It's really luck of the draw, sign up for the AirNZ alerts, that who I booked through.
