View Full Version : What's your favorite scene in a movie

Figure I should preface this thread will be loaded with SPOILERS!

Just wondering what scene really hit you in a movie. I mean we all have our favorites be it an intense action scene or a scene that actually struck you as a moment you've had in your life where your jaw just hit the ground and thought "Were they following me when that happened?"

I saw 500 days of summer about a year back and this one scene really stood out for me, for those that have seen it - the expectations vs reality scene:

No i haven't went through a break up or anything at all recently so i'm not making an emo post ;) Just wanna see what other people enjoyed in movies... might be a good way to find new movies you might enjoy.

Oh man, there's way too many for me but if I had to pick, it would be the "Brooks Was Here" scene from Shawshank Redemption.

Actually I must say.. There are 2 such scenes I've seen in my youth that have stuck with me to this day.

1.) National Lampoon's European Vacation
2.) Total Recall

Wouldn't call them "favorites" but definitely quite memorable.

I have not seen that movie and I want to now, and while my life has been shit lately, I have since met a woman who has exceeded any and all expectations with her reality. Powerful scene!

I think what's so brilliant about it is it has happened to EVERY SINGLE GUY. I mean all guys have had that one "relationship" you thought would work out differently than it did.

Oh god, so many epic scenes in this thread. LOVE Snatch and Donnie Darko. The Shawshank scene with Brooks is too damn sad. Anyway here's 3 that come to mind.

To me a comparable performance to Heath Ledger's Joker is Christoph Waltz's Hans Landa, the first ~15 mins of Inglourious Basterds was pure genius.

100% agree with you.

If I was to name the two best acting scenes I have ever seen and been so into was the above quoted batman scene or inglorious bastards right at the start...I would say inglorious bastards is actually my favorite...he absolutely killed those moments in the farmers house!

Bob, that scene of the Last of the Mohicans is one of my favourites too, when I first watched is for the first time as a kid couldn't stop cheering when Magua got killed.
The soundtrack is one of the best too

to add more memorable scenes from movies.
this one from Cool Runnings. I was in tears from laughing when I was still a kid

I'm watching the Wire now on HBO, great show. I have no idea how I missed this the first time around as I watched all of Homicide: LOTS and The Corner.

BTW, if you like the Wire then you'll like these books by David Simon:
