I'm just wondering, some of us park outside and I would imagine that leaving this in your car over night during -30 weather during te winter cannot be good for it?

keep in mind that tapping in to power might be easier said than done, i would assume most of these cams run off 5v from USB, which means the cig lighter adapter would be a step down, so it'd be necessary to keep that on there, meaning it's pretty large and cant just be hacked in to some ceiling power as there'd be nowhere to put that thing up there. you'd have to run a usb cable down the A pillar and in behind the dash somewhere.

The circuit board in those usb chargers is usually so small that you can just take the plug apart and plastic dip the board and stick it anywhere.

Exactly what I did for my current micro-usb ones. Though if you've never done anything like this before, GET SOMEONE TO HELP YOU.

Ok this is the scoop, I am running a group buy as well.

My target is 25, and ideally have the order in within the next 3 weeks. Payment is due immediately if you are interested.

If beyond member are wanting to pickup I am offering a $13 discount for pickup once the cameras are in Edmonton, AB. So the beyond price is $220 Canadian currently with local pickup.
If you want the unit shipped to you the price is $233.00, with a discount on the shipping offered if you purchase 2 or more units.

If you need more info PM me

Thanks

Got mine today. Setting it up was a bit of a pain at first because it was all in Korean. Before you do anything download the latest firmware in English here;

http://www.blackvue.co.kr/en/contents/sub3.asp?mode=view&serboardsort=&page=1&idx=811&search=&searchstr=

Insert the SD card to your computer then install the firmware update. Then install the pc software. If you don't do it in that order it'll install the software in Korean and it took a while to re-install it properly.

I haven't fiddled with any of the setting yet, but here's my first drive. Aimed a little low

If anyone has a question feel free to ask. The GPS and google maps overlay is really nice

I'll post a daytime one if you guys want, after I fiddle with the settings. Loving it so far

Damn, I do have to confess, that program looks pretty nice, and I like how it even logs accelerometer data.... That is swaying me slightly towards it now.

Did a quick comparison video between two dash cams (Thanks Tik-Tok for lending me the BlackVue!).

Both cameras have very good daytime video, with the DOD-Tech edging out the BlackVue in terms of sharpness. The BlackVue manages light much better than the DOD-Tech and is really noticeable at night.

Both cameras are at their default settings. Not sure about the BlackVue, but the DOD-Tech is at -1.0EV, Auto ISO, High Contrast, High Sharpness and Vivid for scene setting.

Lemme know if you can fiddle with the DOD-Tech settings to get better night video. If so I'll probably end up picking one up.

You can disable the speed overlay, right?

Wow, thanks for the nice head-to-head comparison.

Yeah you can individually disable each of the 3 lines of info.

I'm thinking the night video can be improved by forcing it to stay on a lower ISO and bumping up the EV to -0.3 or even 0.0. Right now auto ISO goes from 100 - 1600. Haven't tried this yet though.

The only setting the blackvue has is "brightness", lol. Just curious if you played with the software as well? It's kind of neat how it's all on the microSD card, so you don't need to install it on a computer, just plug in the card to any windows computer, or android phone/tablet, and you can watch, map it out, and change settings.

Oh, and the blackvue can utilize IR, I just tested it while I was installing back in the civic.

Now all I need is this (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Magnalight-Infrared-LED-Spot-Light-Emitter-200-IR-LEDs-600-Watts-850NM-/370587910498?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5648c2c162) mounted on the front  900' flood beam, or 2600' spot beam, lol.
