played around with it in store. It's pretty amazing and TBH with the high res screen and powerful hardware, I actually found it too small. Would be perfect at 6". Would still fit inside my jacket pocket and would completely eliminate the need for a tablet and phone. At 5.3” it’s too big for a phone and too small for a tablet. It’s been out in Europe for almost 4 months now but now it’s getting too close to Tegra 3 and spending $700 on a tabphone with 3 year old tech seems like a waste atm.

anyone know the release date with bell?

I currently have the galaxy 2s. I like the idea of having a tablet and phone all in one

a few mentioned the old operating system. should I just keep my galaxy 2 our grab this as my galaxy is almost dead... I can switch for either

opinions would be great.

Release date is tomorrow I believe.

Both the Galaxy S2 and this bad boy are going to be upgraded to the newest software fairly soon (April latest).

Why do you guys even need a quad core? Most apps don't even use the dual core. It's not going to make that much of an effect on battery life, and the Note has a HUGE battery in it.

Canadian release is tomorrow and this is going to be upgradeable to 4.0 Icecream sandwich in a couple of months. The stylus future on the phone is great and completely useful and responsive. If you are looking for a tablet + phone in one this is probably the way to go...

Was all set to buy this phone until I made a scale model of it and carried it around with me. I thought it wouldn't be too big, but it was. Also, there is no Otterbox or similar case for it, at least when I was looking a while ago. Absolutely love everything about the phone, I wish I was OK with the size.

wish this was a little bigger. Been looking for a tablet that would fit nicely in a double din slot

Wish there was the non LTE version. I want the faster processor and potentially longer battery and HSPA is fast enough now.

I know I can turn it off, in fact I don't have an LTE plan so I don't think I could use it anyway, but I want the exynos.

Factoring exchange rate + VAT + shipping, you're still close to the price here....

You don't pay VAT and shipping is cheap.

Factoring Tax and bullshit fees over here it is cheaper to but from them.

Luckily i have the tab on virgin, so i ca just sell the nexus and pay off the tab to get the note... not sure it's worth the hassle though for only .5" larger

I think the streak was too early, people weren't ready for the size, they kinda had to be eased in to it... also the processing power really isn't there for the screen size and resolutions it'd be expected to support.

Haha, I cut thin cardboard (like cereal box) with a ruler and utility knife and stacked it until I had the thickness right, then wrapped it tightly with duct tape. It was accurate within a few millimeters (I was bored that night apparently).

I just carried it around in my car, pants pockets, coat pockets, etc. I tried to put it everywhere I keep my cellphone. I didn't walk around with it held to my ear haha, but you aren't too far off. And yes, it did look ridiculous held to my ear.

I REALLY wanted it to work, but it was simply too big, and I would 100% for sure be getting a case for it, which would have made it even bigger.

Ended up with a Galaxy Nexus and with an otterbox commuter series, it's about as big as I'd want a phone. Seems to be the perfect size for me so far, as I was after the most screen real estate I could possibly get without getting impractical.

I did similar to Mitsu3000 went to
http://phone-size.com/?s=1%2C3%2C6
printed it off and kept comparing. I'm already use too carrying an ipad2 around so figure why not.

I'm gonna go buy one in the next week when more accessories come out.

http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/02/14/samsung-galaxy-note-review-part-one/

so based on comments the older version with the Exynos chip will run a little faster in CPU, better battery, but no LTE

Which one to buy old or new???

I would buy the newer one, LTE capability is good to have for the future. Yes right now there is no LTE in Calgary but its coming and when its here you could benefit from it rather then having just 4g.

Exynos is just superior hardware in everyway. The CPU and GPU are miles above Snapdragon. For media and future gaming it'll be worth it. If i'm spending $700 on a piece of hardware it better have the best I can get. It’s already bad enough that’s it’s so close to Tegra 3, the new Exynos and Power VR chips. The size, resolution and price of the Note really demands something special. That’s the only reason I’m holding off on buying one. Just not powerful enough for what it should be.

Typing this on the galaxy note I dunno about this phone doesn't seem too grey nothing new except for the stylus which seems buggy you have to presses a little hard and I can notice lag just typing this

Still runs is 2.3

Not impressed

I just played around with one at FS and i like it... I didn't notice any lag on the phone as stated above. Phone was quick going from one app to another, taking pics, going into txt messages, and other features of the phone.

Keys were a bit spaced out, but it didn't slow me down that much. I noticed i was making less key stroke mistakes then i make on my iphone because the keys are bigger. Overall i'm impressed with the device

Idk why people keep bringing this up. Making calls is probably one of the least performed tasks I do on a smartphone now a days. Almost all communication is through texts or emails or IMs. I use the browser, the movie player the music player, the camera etc. I have headphones plugged in so when I do need to make a call I use that, I don’t actually need to hold it up to my ear. And even if I did for the few second I need to make a call the last thing I’d care about is how some douchebags think I look. My biggest concern regarding to size is how portable it is. If I can fit it inside a jacket pocket without needing to carry some sort of separate carry case slug over my shoulders. That’s why I find something like the Ipad so impractical in terms of size.

picked one up and been playing with it for a couple days.

The Good so far:
- I like the portability, can store in coat jacket pocket vs iPad
- LTE is fast speed tested at 10mb up and down.
- Very crisp screen
- good for viewing documents on the go

The Bad:
- LTE sucks up battery life, lasted a day. (HSPA lasted 2 days)
- LTE signal not strong i never have full bars.
- The power button is the only way to wake up the machine, kinda miss having a physical home button. Looking for an app to fix this?
- No ICS update

Still getting use to working through gingerbread, I've only used honeycomb and so far havent really used the PEN at all.

Gonna try and be as productive with it the next couple days and see if it fits my usage.
i.e. Logmein, iAnnotate, EzPDfReader mark up PDF's.

Anygood appz to recommend ?

Anyone have a case for this yet? i'm looking around they only had a $40 Samsung case that has a flip cover.
