I'm sure Rage and Kenny will be right over to deputize you as an official moderator, '12.

(My god... we used to make fun of '08s... I've been on here too long.)

Haha.. Of course, I'm an easy going guy, but when someone makes a big claim like that, I wanna know who you are/what you do.

Too many are too cocky for their own good (and Canmore would be a dream to live in for being a cyclist). Didn't mean to sound harsh, but my offer still stands... Banff Bike Fest?........

3500 km in a year? Dat's entry level son. I did 3500 and I get crushed by pure bikers.

haha... THIS:thumbsup:

Joe Friel lays it on the table nicely...

CATEGORY//Hours/Year
Pro//800-1200
1-2//700-1000
3//500-700
4//350-500
5 (+ Juniors)//200-350

As per this, 3500km's is well below Cat 5

Last year i didn't get my riding in that i usually would (finished up some classes over the summer)...

But as a competitive rider, i (and other riders i know) should be able to do about 1k/month [at minimum]

every week at the U of C - go get humbled (or maybe kick some ass).

My W/kg puts me with the slower cat4s, but I only picked up a proper road bike at the end of last season. Might try it out this year.

Do you do the crits khyron??

Khyron

Nope just tri's and more running focus. I haven't decided if this year will be all run or if I'll try some road racing (and get creamed). I picked up a decent used OCR c2 end of season that I've ridden twice. :P Who do you race with?

I'd recommend road racing :D haha... Bit biased though.

If nothing else, the crits are insanely good training (corner-sprint/corner-sprint...)
They're not win/lose, but more of a hone in on your skills and have a good time (like a hockey beer league).
How you liking the OCR in comparison to your TT bike?

But I ride for Bow Cycle

3500km/year and you're bragging about your cycling prowess? I put in at least 5000km/year in commuting, not to mention in the summer at least 200km/week in road riding and mtn biking. I consider that to be low-mid tier for serious cyclists.

3500km/year is entry level.

Seems like an odd event? Might as well do a sprint/oly tri and get to do some biking! There's 2 tri-it/super sprints in the spring (500m/20km/5k) that are excellent if you're new. Swim is my slowest segment, but it keeps me sort of proportional.

you're talking about the crit being odd right?

but thats what a criterium is haha... This one is just pretty laid back. No boasting or anything... Just a training race, lost of competition still though

No I meant the aquathon. 400m is like 10 mins for a slowish person, and 2K run, wat? Seems like a good "get-off-the-couch" thing though.

Crits seem really crazy, as I don't want to eat cement, but I get the benefit and want to give it a go.

Haven't ridden ocr much, just eyeball'd the fit. Previous owner put 25s on it for some reason (he was a small kid)

Gotcha..

When you put it into perspective i guess, its real menial. Be dece training though i could see in some perspective....

But yea dude, get rid of those 25's, and hope to see you at the crits!
