Got an email from the NY International Auto Show

Here’s a shadowy glimpse of the 2013 SRT Viper. If you want to see more, you'll have to wait until April 6-15, where it will be on display at the 2012 New York International Auto Show.

Yeah it does look very similar, but the Viper is one of the best looking cars of all time imo. They would be foolish to make radical changes, there is nothing on the road like one

^well, since you had to go back over 40 years to find what you think is a nicer looking car (good thing you didn't try to use a newer corvette lol), maybe you helped Hallowed make his point.

So obviously they've engineered a new V10?

Edit: well that didnt take long to get dis-proven.

Yeah, myself as well as everyone else would be pretty disappointed with the srt8 in a viper. It needs 10.

EDIT: I want.

I've heard that the Viper will not be a Dodger per se but an SRT. I've read that Chrysler is going to run a "new" division called simply SRT which will have the traditional SRT models under it (Charger, Challenger, 300, Viper & Ram). Has anyone heard the same or otherwise?

This would be more interesting if they could acheive 100hp/L. They may as well just make it a 10L V10 and strap a set of truck nuts on the back.

The v10 better get better numbers than the supercharged 8 coming for the srt8.

Sounds like the new one is going to be an awesome car. With no less then the current 600Hp. Some are saying 700. But all the nannies added by the government will make it more user friendly for the average old lady to drive without killing herself.

Dodge is really fucking around. For their flagship Supercar Viper motors are huge piles of shit.

Powedered rods, hyper eutectic pistons with ring lands so thin and close to the crown, in road race 2008 plus, they break stock.

Junk.

The 2003 to 2007 cars even have a camshaft installed on a 120 plus or something intake centerline (its been a while, I think I measured it in at 124!?!?!?). Like what the fuck? lol. No wonder it takes 8.4 litres to make 400 whp. embarassing.

But it is a BAD ASS looking car. Second best looking American car ever  Ford GT-gt40 is number one IMO.

Word, their engines have always been a big colossally heavy disappointment.
I've always had a good laugh at the 400hp figure... Pathetic. :banghead: ......and it takes an 8.4L V10 to produce that? oh... okay.

Good news is, I think a cartridge clean up of the stock heads, a set of springs, and a camshaft of my spec, I can make more power than the 2008+ cars. :dunno: SO maybe pretty easy.

I may try it with my car.

But the lazy stock cam does indeed LOVE nitrous. a 150 shot on a Viper can make well over 200 to the wheels! lol

Weird, I think it DEFINITELY is. Viper or GT40. There is nothing even close.

The vette is pretty ugly to me. I preferred the Shelby/AC Cobra to the Vette any day of the week.

I do get the idea of having the sound and torque curve of a high displacement engine....but why not get 500+ HP out of a 4 or 5L instead of an 8L?

^ I'd say there are few that wouldnt agree. For these insane ultra high hp builds a big block is necessary, but as some sluggish NA engine that has little design merits it's an uncalled for waste.
I'd go with an LS series sbc years before I would bother with this "gem" of a V10. 400hp/400tq bone stock NA 6.2l LS2, or a 400hp/400tq 8.4 v10; hmmm that a toughy

Fuck that. What it should have been is an 8.4 litre with 750hp.

The new one should be 800hp, and a lot of Carbon and aluminum to bring the weight down under 3000

As awesome as that would be, all those sexy Viper bodies would be wrapped around trees in no time. If they released an SRT version like that, giving the owners an option of high vs. crazy high HP, that would be sweet!

The 4th gen cars have AMAZING engines. We did a lot of the Striker heads in the past and the heads in the 4th gen heads look waaaay nicer than the Strikers.

They've been pulling their shit together, so I'm hoping the new gen is better than the garbage they've put out before.
