So I've been working 7 on 7 off for a year now, and I'm getting really f'ing bored during my 7 off since no one else I know has weekdays free. I wouldn't mind earning side money as well for a possible addition to our house in a few years. Basically, I'd be available for every other Tues-Fri (days, not evenings). I have no idea if anywhere hires people with a limitation like that.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Doesn't need to be a specific place you know is hiring, just in general. Warehouse work or something similar?

edit: NOT restaurants, or sales, lol.

First thing that came to mind is sales. I doubt a warehouse would hire you because then they will need someone else to cover you the other week. I know a few buddies who work as tellers at banks who have an extremely flexible schedule?

Be like the other beyond'er and start your own business...its easy right? :nut:

Do you golf?

Golf season is coming up and usually pro shop/back shop workers are super flexible schedules. You'll be working with a bunch of kids but the bonus is free golf.

I know, but I'm a HORRIBLE salesman. I have these annoying personality traits that directly oppose good sales, like honesty, integrity, and ethics

Construction crew?

Give you some valuable experience for the addition.

not a bad idea actually, even if you're a baggage handler for westjet you likely still get hella cheap flights

Westjet's pay is a joke though. Depends what's important to you. Flight benefits don't pay bills. But, if you're looking solely for bennies, why not go work for a real airline like AC and take a cheap flight to Europe on your days off instead of Halifax?

I do work at the airport  .

I tried getting a bag chucker job years ago with Westjet, but as soon as they heard I was an AME with a different company, they said no.

I'm gonna assume if you're on the north end you're either with AC or SkyService? Maybe you're down south... Anyways, try somewhere like Servisair.

Limo driver. Sounds retarded, but the money isn't bad... and since you already do much of the airport thing it may be worth your while.
I'd try to get on with California Dream limo, I used to Chauffeur for them quite a bit PT back when I still had my (then valid) Chauffeur license a number of years back. The license isn't hard to get, nor is your class 4. The only main difference between the 4 and the 5 is the max demerits you can have.

The money is decent (sometimes the tips can be silly, I once made $1200 a day in tips driving some very well heeled U.S. film-writers... mind you thats very very uncommon, most times its a couple hundred for a fairly long trip/ busy day) The hours are totally flexible. Pretty much call ahead and tell them what days you're free and they'll work with you from there.

Man I have some interesting stories that would make any crowd just be in stitches from when I used to do that FT... wow... just.... I can go on and on but.....
Everything from the cross-dressing knifing incident to the porn movie incident.... yeah.... :nut:
Stuff like that is very uncommon, but when you've done it enough you see a bit of everything... .and I mean EVERYTHING.

Same here, but way back when I did sales; I just used those traits to try to match up the customers wants with the most suitable product for them. Sales isn't any more unethical then you make it out to be. I despised it, so Ill never go back (Im not a people person at all)... but its just some food for thought.

Thanks for the suggestions guy. I'm going to do up a resume this weekend, and just start randomly looking as well.

Doesn't take long after getting a license, for the enthusiasm to run out, and the cold hard bitter realization, that the aviation industry is fucked, sets in, does it?

no it does not take long at fken all - not what they push it out to be at school that's for sure, also idk how those military boys do it, take the cowls off every inspection, just the cowls, then bring in someone else to snip the lockwire, then another guy removes the lockwire, oh yeah tell Jim to get over here to throw out the lockwire...
