I am fixing a laptop for a family member who dropped it off a table and destroyed the dc jack in the laptop. I have found the correct one on EBay:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/DC-Power-Jack-Acer-Aspire-5532-5535-Motherboard-NEW-/160489093629?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item255de539fd

However they do not wish to wait that long for parts. Does anybody know where I can find one locally? I am tempted to email the picture to MRO or Active and see what they have, but I thought I'd check if anybody here would part with one for a reasonable fee, or if they know where one might be in stock locally?

Give Futureshop a try. I know they have spare parts for various systems.

Its not really a spare part, its a small jack that is soldered onto the board and is generally considered non-replaceable by the manufacturer :(

Hmmmm, Maybe try places like Laptop Depot where they deal primarily in refurb products?

I believe Pro-data is an Acer service centre (at least they used to be). They may want you to replace the entire powerboard instead and generally only work with resellers so I'm not sure if they'd replace that for you.

Interesting, it looks like they do repairs like this in-store, so they may have the parts on hand. Thanks for the tip, I'll call them right after work and see :D

I just talked to Laptop Depot, and although they do the repairs in store they don't stock any parts and will not sell them separately even if they did :(
Pro-data eh?... I'll try them. There is no power board on this laptop, the jack is directly on the motherboard itself. Fortunately the jack shattered and the board was not damaged so I only need a jack... It is a PJ43, but I can't seem to find an equivalent part number on digikey or anywhere else so MRO and Active can't help me either.

Nope, Pro-data won't sell me one either. Shit :(

I can't get a part number for the jack from any major manufacturer, only the acer part number, and without that no electronics shops are willing to help. The original is shattered so really all I have to go from is a picture of it and for $3-$5 nobody wants to spend the time on it.
I ordered one from EBay, should be here next week, I guess she just has to wait to get her laptop back.

Maybe post up which one you ordered off ebay. I think I've got one or two laying around from previous repairs (and I ordered 2 off ebay just to be safe).

This is the one I ordered from EBay, its identical to the one in the first post ;). I don't typically do laptop repairs like this so since I ordered one already I don't really want to pay for a second one since it'll be difficult to justify passing that cost on.
