I ran my new Type R on Friday and my best time was a 14.82@94mph.

What can i do to run a faster time, probably a 14.5 or 6.

Would race gas and advancing the timing help?

Does anyone have any 15" slicks?

R/T .801
60' 2.222
330 6.194
1/8 9.511
MPH 74.57
1000 12.388
1/4 14.824
MPH 94.75

im starting to find that for some reason natrually aspirated cars tend to do alot better at higher elevation then forced induction.. i know most of you knew this but im just so surprized...
i could never run even close to my stock 1/4 when i was stock..
maybe it is just mad skills...
nice 60' foot times for a street tire front wheel drive.. good job

Say what? FI cars are not affected near as much as NA cars at higher elevation...

In all serious good job, what happened with the CRX project?:dunno:

If you play with cam timing you'll get more out of it, should be good for another tenth or 2.

I wouldn't advance the timing on your ITR man. ignition timing can be a little tempermental and you may actually lose power. you'd have to strap it on a dyno to really tune the ignition - or any other part for that matter.

amazing times BTW

Well Hole Shot Racing (Hole Shit) did my ls/vtec which took
f*@king 6 months to build, why i don't know. I finally got it back and after two days of driving on the new motor piston 2 decides to literally explode. And remember i never took it above 4500rpm because i was breaking it in. And they were trying to blame it on me saying that i didn't tighten my timing belt. if i didn't tighten my timing belt all my valves would be bent. but they didn.t even take the head off to check they just suspected the valves were bent.

So i just decided to screw it and buy a new car cause my whole summer was ruined.

I warn people not to go to HOLE SHOT!

the car is at the mechanic shop, with the engine out!
at the moment, to the second update!
it is waiting for the bottom end to come back from the machine shop.03 over bored, new connecting rods, and low compression forged pistons... once that is back i already have my head p&p, my fulemanagment system and everything ready to go!
the reason it took so long ( 6 months ) is because i had problems finding jdm parts ( pistons )
which my mechanic acually found YESTERDAY

im not lieing about anything
anyone that doesnt believe me can call 256-9153 ask for Geff, and say you know the probe...( he will know exactly what your talking about )
he will tell you it will only put out 400+ whp , but thats because he doesnt know the stats on the engine and i do...

go ahead call em

R/T: .938
60' : 2.536
330: 6.651
1/8: 10.070
MPH: 72.35
1000: 13.050
1/4 : 15.561
MPH: 92.03
Gotta work on my launching @7000+ RPM's  I dun think my clutch is gonna make it til the end of SS, so maybe I'll kill it off this Friday night :burnout:

You guys will know who i am cause i'm the only one with the stock wheels painted gunmetal.

I'm going to be runnin half a tank of race gas and advancing the timing probably about 2 degrees.
I'm hoping to run a 14.6 but we will see how the track conditions are.

cocoabravo- don't worry you'll get better. you ran same times when ? I first got my Type R.. Best I ran in the Type R Bone Stock was 15.3, I believe raptor hit 15.2 bone stock with semi-stripped interior.
Also try a laucn maybe around 4700-5000 RPM and slip the clutch, don't dump it. Your 60ft will improve along with your times.

AL here's my advice to you if you slip the clutch you will get worse 60 foot times and especially launching it at 4700-5000 you will just bog and not go nowhere. It doesn't have forced induction it's an N/A car.
My buddy was running the same tires as you and he was getting 2.2 60 foot times which is good. It also depends if the track is good or not.(weather conditions)
I was launching at 7000 and dumping the clutch and it was still kind of bogging. But i was getting 2.2 60 foots.
Come meet me there tonight and we'll see what we can do.

Those tires actually aren't bad on the track my best 60 foot times were with tires. You can't expect anything better than a 2.2 on stock tires, it's a front wheel drive car.

Even with Yokohama A032R the best times we got out of those was 2.1 and then i busted my tranny the fourth run.

If you wanna run anything lower than a 2.1 60 foot get slick's and you'll 1.8 like Brad.

Voodoo Child
09-20-2002, 11:36 AM
Coco buddy,

I've read two different methods with our ITR's.
You can either launch between 4500-5500 and feather the clutch and once it engages, you floor the bastard; or you can dump like Al sais at high rpm's.
I've only ever tried the first way so tonight I too am going to do a few 7K+ dumps. I've hit 2.2's for the most part the other way so I'm curious to see if I can get it a bit lower.

Good luck

VC:thumbsup:

Hey Al/Nate/Jason/Corey-thanks for the advice..... I think I'm gonna start a support group for ITR drivers w/ bad 60' times, and you guys can be our counsellors   Well, I'll try and make it out tonight, but my rubber is not bad cuz they're XGT4's, they're bad cuz they're past the indicator on the insides and the r/f has tread separation with a nice bulge :thumbsdow With my 92mph last week, I know I can get into the low 15's/high 14's. I might run slicks when I go next Friday or I'm gonna have new rubber all around, so it's gonna be brought-en JDMpimp and Nate D-O double G:burnout: :burnout: As for tonight, I'll prolly just be the token ITR MALE cheerleader.... :woot: :woot:
