So why are we charging these Chinese $80K but each polar bear costs us $420K?

Some buddies and I have been talking about going north to hunt Polar Bears for awhile now. Unfortunately, it is expensive. But it would make for an amazing experience.

Ummm I think you misread that. It says that canadians are WILLING TO PAY 420k to SAVE THEM. Not that it costs us 420k.....

I stopped here...

According to the Daily Mail

edit: And oh gee, look, the only links google comes up with for the "I love hunting club" are numerous other sites referencing the Daily Mail.

Raise the price. From the article, the $80k is for the travel package, and the "permit" is a tiny part of it.
I suggest $250,000 for the permit and that money earmarked for conservation. That would put the package price around the $300k mark, which would reduce the number of bears killed, and probably bring in as much or more revenue.

When I read of a hunter getting hunted by the bear, well that is a happy day indeed.

My favorite line from article:

And if you believe the ice caps are melting as some claim, these bears are going to die anyway, so you may as well hunt them."

eskimos arn't allowed to kill very many. each village/ town is issued a certain number of tags for the year to feed their families. tags depend on how many people are living in the area. US hunters were up here all the time shooting them for 30-40k a hunt. Border shut that down though and no polar bears are allowed to cross into the US now. I used to ship the hides/skulls and what not down to them when they were allowed to hunt them. hell i have 5-10 hides in my freezer at work that i cant send to the US owners of them due to the ban. been like that for years now. Polar bear hunting has changed quite a bit in the past few years, and restrictions are just getting tighter and tighter. Should be though, as we should be trying to save them.
