Room for another 996t build thread?

Well a couple guys were pressuring me to do a build thread. I've had a few big projects so since this car will be the smallest build, I have I may as well do one.

I sold my heavily modded s2000 to a local guy and he happend to have a minty Porsche 911 turbo for sale, so I grabbed it.

Right now it has

-Oem aero lip
-Techart type 1 wing addon
-Precision Porsche intake splitters
-Unknown LED Daytime LED lights
-H&R springs on stock struts
-Stop Tech BBK
-OEM 997 GT3 wheels w/ H&R spacers
-Speechtech 70mm 200 cell exhaust
-EVOMS Intake
-Unknown 1.0 bar tune

The car runs strong enough to slowly walk a Z06 and stay dead even with a GTR. But if anybody knows me, who wants to be dead even with a GTR???

Haven't decided on which route I'm going to take with this car. I know some people use these cars as their winter beaters..... :poosie: But for me it's a nice summer car. So I"m sure there will be more to come.....

Tell me about it..... The turbokit is actually resonably priced. But once you add the injectors, clutch, intercoolers, inlet piping, etc..... More than you expected.

Stay tuned. The supporting mods are starting to come in now.

Comes with with coolant lines. Stock oil lines fit.

Wouldn't bet too much on that, I've run a ZR1 in mine to 240km/h and it was tight. Max's car will destroy my car with what he's doing...for now

Factory coolant spider has fittings that are glued in..... In some cases they come loose and coolant blows up all over the top of the engine. Got em welded up now!

Hey guys, I'm the owner/driver of this 996 Turbo. I am running straight catless pipes during this run. The Pcars don't make the greatest exhaust notes I agree. The car is a 2001, with a 3.8L stroker motor. It makes 950whp at the moment.

To the OP, you are making all the right moves with your build. I wish you the best of luck!

All back together!

KW suspension feels awesome and the GT2 slave conversion is a MUST for these cars. Feels so much better. I didn't have a chance to open it up as I just took it from the shop and dropped it off for my new exhaust.

The protomotive base tune drives like a stock car. And it seems like the alpha3076 turbos spool almost like stock from what I can tell putting around.

I'll definetly keep this thread updated with progress.

I feel that this post deserves it's own box.

Alpine Autowerks did all the work on my car. They were EXTREMELY accomodating to my needs and my time deadline. I'm sure they will hate me for saying this. But Juri and Michael spent some late nights at the shop to make sure that I got it back tonight. They were there till 6am last night, slept at the shop and got it all done today.

I visited the shop many times over the week and Marc and the guys were more than happy to let me know what was going on with the build and sent me MANY progress pics throughout the whole process.

I cannot say enough about these knowledgable guys and they made me feel very good about where I was spending my money. No shortcuts were taken when hickups in the aftermarket parts being fitted properly. As many know, these AM parts don't always fit like they are supposed to.

I have never been as impressed with an install on any of my cars. And if you know me..... I have lots of installs over the years.

Max, were you blasting down Blackfoot Trail around 5:15 today? I saw a 996 just like this one heading southbound...doing a pretty good clip. Sweet car!

I also have a Proromotive tune. Do you happen to have a Pbox to see what your car will do 60-100, 60-130, 100-150, etc?

With those turbos you should be able to run low to mid 5's 60-130 times.

I have a Pbox that Max is definitely welcome to use. Hopefully I can get times from a bunch of the fast cars in Calgary this summer. I ran 9.65 with my 911.
