Hey all,

just got a quote for some dental work I need to get done and overseas it'll cost me a fortune so I'm thinking of just getting it done in Calgary when I'm back for 3 weeks in July.
Do you have any recommendations? I need to get some fillings done and would like to get a quote for veneers as well.
Just hoping to save some coin in Canada vs here...

Why not just go down to some nearby island i.e. New Caledonia or Thailand or something? flights are cheap so you can make a trip out of it.

Time to visit S.Korea before July for a couple week?
I've made a few trip to Korea(visiting relatives, travelling etc) before, and I always get the best bang for the buck service down there. I do not even have their health insurance plan.

Pulling out 3 wisdom teeth
45,000 won($40) plus antibiotic prescription($30) vs $2,000 from specialist in Calgary. $70 vs $2,000 :nut: ???

Root Canal + Porcelain crown(Up to the date product)
500,000 won($450) the most expensive option possible vs well over $1500 in Calgary

Hope this helps you get an idea of it.

^^^ Holy shit!

My 4 wisdom teeth getting pulled was over $2000, insurance only covered half but that's crazy. $70? Can't believe that. Do the dentists over there have to go through the 7+ years of school or what?

My mom had a friend who got some work done somewhere in asia as well (not sure the exact procedure, veneers maybe) but within months it was all fucked up and then had to get it re-done in calgary properly, so ultimatly she was out waayyyy more money than if she had it done right the first time. :dunno: . If you go the cheap asian route, you'll want to do tons of research into the clinic to make sure its all up to snuff. Youll ultimatly spend more money in calgary, but knowing the strict guidelines of canada is kinda good peace of mind too.:hitit:

Not saying that all work can be shoddy, but buyer beware.

That's is crazy expensive, I just had 3 wisdom teeth removed yesterday and it was $675.00. This was in Medicine Hat, not Calgary though.

Never know, each case can be unique. I had a friend in HS who had all four wisdom teeth removed in four different trips to the dentist, each tooth had roots that were issues. It seems the roots were somehow wrapped around or in his jawbone.

Calgary will have higher prices, this is to be expected. Save a grand and drive to MH?

Go to Manitoba, they regulate dental fees.

Crown in Calgary=$1200-1500
Crown in Winnipeg=$800

 what the fuck? Did that include the knockout gas and everything? Damn everything in Calgary seems to be more expensive than all the surrounding cities, except BC.

But yea as CanmoreOrLess said, each case is different. Thankfully mine was all done in the same day and I was able to recover through the weekend with only one day off work.
